Rockhurst to Host 2015 GLVC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships at Plaza Tennis Center
The 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's & Women's Tennis Championships will be hosted by Rockhurst on April 17-19. The 2015 event, which will be held at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo., marks the 37th annual edition for the men and 35th for the women.
The top four teams based on the highest divisional winning percentage from each of the GLVC's two divisions earn a spot in the two eight-team tournaments. Both events are single elimination with a third-place and championship match conducted on Sunday.
For the first time ever, the GLVC Tennis Championships will be streamed live and free on the GLVC Sports Network. A complete schedule will be announced during championship week.
Bellarmine (8), Indianapolis (7), Southern Indiana (7), Drury (6), former league member Northern Kentucky (5), Rockhurst (2), and former league member SIU Edwardsville (2) have all claimed GLVC Men's Tennis Championshps.
Last year, No. 1 West seed Drury earned its sixth title with a 5-2 victory over No. 2 East seed Indianapolis at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.
On the women's side, Indianapolis (8), Drury (7), former league member Northern Kentucky (6), Saint Joseph's (6), Southern Indiana (3), Bellarmine (1), Lewis (1) and former league member SIU Edwardsville (1) have all recorded conference championships in the past.
In a rematch of the 2013 GLVC Championship final, the No. 1 West seed Drury women defeated No. 1 East seed Lewis, 5-4.
Daily admission to the 2015 GLVC Tennis Championships will be $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students. Youth tickets for ages 3-14 will be $1, while any GLVC student with a valid ID will be admitted free. A three-day pass is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.
