2016 GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Return to William Jewell College
The 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Greene Stadium on the campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., May 5-7. The 2016 event will mark the 20th year for the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the first time the annual postseason event has been extended to three days.
Multi-event specialists will report on Thursday, and conclude competition Friday, May 6. Both track and field events will commence Friday and wrap up Saturday evening.
For the second straight season, the GLVC Championships will be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network. Broadcast details will be announced days prior to the meet and all coverage can be found on the official GLVCSN website, GLVCsports.com/watch.
Missouri S&T successfully defended its men's conference title last year, while the Indianapolis women reclaimed the top spot for the sixth time in seven years. S&T garnered 174 points to capture its third overall outdoor title since joining the GLVC in the 2005-06 season. In addition to the 2014 campaign, the Miners also captured top billing in 2009.
UIndy returned to the top spot in the conference after seeing Lewis capture the 2014 crown on its home turf. The Greyhounds earned 181.33 points to the secure a four-point advantage over Lewis, which was the second-closest title race in the league history.
The UIndy men have won a GLVC-record six outdoor titles, including four of the last six, while the UIndy women have won six of the last seven championships at the annual event, which extends their conference-best total to eight since the GLVC began sponsoring the sport in 1996.
