INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has selected ten student-athletes as Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sports for the 2008-09 winter and spring seasons. Indianapolis’ Lyndsay McBride, Justin Hueber and Emily Schaf, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Haleigh Ashworth, Missouri S&T’s Jordan Henry, Missouri-St. Louis’ Andi Dimke, Northern Kentucky’s Evan McDole and Stephanie Isaacs, Quincy’s Jessica Keller and Rockhurst’s Aaron Hill have been honored for their athletic and academic achievements this past academic year.
The league selects one student-athlete in each conference sport to be designated the GLVC
Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This award is based upon athletic accomplishments, both team and
individual, and academic performance in the season upon which the award is based. Each
conference member has the opportunity to nominate one individual from its team for the award.
Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average which meets Academic All-America
standards (3.30), and freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible for the award. The voting is done by each institution's Faculty Athletic Representative.

Men's Basketball: Aaron Hill, Rockhurst University
Aaron Hill, a junior from Canton, Missouri, led the Hawks to an appearance in the GLVC Tournament and in the NCAA Midwest Regional during the year. He average 20 points per game for Rockhurst and shot 45.6 percent from the three-point line. Hill was named the GLVC Player of the Year and was a first-team All-GLVC selection. He was also named to the D-II Bulletin All-American Second Team and was a member of the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American Third Team. Hill, who received his Accounting Degree in December posted a 3.84 grade point average and had a 3.33 semester GPA while working on his MBA. He started all 30 games for the Hawks and helped them to a 19-11 overall record and 13-4 mark in league play. |

Women’s Basketball: Jessica Keller, Quincy University
Jessica Keller, a recent graduate of Quincy, led the Lady Hawks to the top record in GLVC play in 2008-09. The native of Belle, Missouri completed a stellar four-year career for the Hawks by guiding her team to the final game of the GLVC Tournament and to the semifinals of the NCAA Midwest Regional. She averaged 20 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.8 steals in her senior year and was named the 2008-09 GLVC Player of the Year. Keller, who finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.95 in accounting, led the league in scoring and steals and was a third-team All-America selection. She also earned ESPN the Magazine All-America honors and finished ranked 18th in the nation in scoring per game. Keller helped the Lady Hawks to an overall record of 27-5 and a 16-1 mark in the GLVC. She was also recently awarded the GLVC Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award recognizing the league’s top female student-athlete. |

Men’s Golf: Justin Hueber, University of Indianapolis
Justin Hueber, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was selected the GLVC Men’s Golfer of the Year for the second consecutive season after claiming medalist honors at the GLVC Championship and posting a 71.1 stroke per round average. He finished in the top five in 11 of 14 events on the season and won six tournaments. Hueber broke his own school-record for scoring average, led Division II and ranked sixth among all collegiate golfers. He was one of just nine players named to the Division II PING All-American First Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Academic All-GLVC selection posted a 3.341 cumulative GPA and earned a 3.533 semester GPA while twice tying the school-record for lowest 18-hole score (65). Hueber helped the Greyhounds claim their second consecutive GLVC Championship in 2009. |

Women’s Golf: Lyndsay McBride, University of Indianapolis
Lyndsay McBride, a junior golfer for UIndy women’s golf team, capped an outstanding 2008-09 campaign by winning the 2009 NCAA Division II Individual National Championship. She became the first women’s golf national champion in school history by winning the four-day event by two strokes. She helped the Greyhounds to a third-place team finish at the National Championships and also finished third at the GLVC Championships, helping UIndy to the team title. McBride, a native of Bristol, Indiana, has maintained a 3.815 cumulative GPA in Visual Communication & Design and Fine Arts and posted a 3.764 semester GPA. She averaged 78.3 strokes per round during the year and recorded six top-five finishes and 11 top-ten finishes. She is up for the 2008-09 Division II Athlete of the Year, presented by the Board of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards and is one of only 11 nominees. |

Men’s Tennis: Andi Dimke, University of Missouri-St. Louis
Andi Dimke, a junior from Nuremburg, Germany, posted a strong tennis campaign while maintaining a 3.980 cumulative GPA in International Business. Dimke posted a 23-3 overall record at No. 1 singles during the 2008-09 season, including an 8-1 mark in GLVC play. He defeated two top-26 players, including No. 15 Daniel Usieto of Northwest Missouri State (4-6, 6-4, 6-4). In addition, Dimke compiled a 14-8 overall record at No. 1 doubles. He and teammate Daniel Anthony posted a 6-3 record at No. 1 doubles in GLVC action. Dimke was named the GLVC Player of the Year and was an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team selection and Academic All-America Second Team honoree. |

Women’s Tennis: Stephanie Isaacs, Northern Kentucky University
Stephanie Isaacs, a native of Waynesville, Ohio, guided the Norse to a second-place finish in the GLVC standings in 2009. Isaacs, a junior for the Norse, posted a 15-9 record in singles play and a 9-10 record in doubles play during the season. She was 13-8 at No. 2 singles and 8-8 at No. 1 doubles. Isaacs was named to the All-GLVC team in 2009 and helped Northern Kentucky to a 19-8 overall record and 9-1 mark in the GLVC. The Norse advanced to the First Round of the NCAA Midwest Regional. Isaacs, a Political Science & Speech Communication major, has a 4.00 cumulative GPA and was named to the NKU and GLVC All-Academic Teams. Isaacs was also selected as the GLVC Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2008. |

Men’s Track & Field: Jordan Henry, Missouri University of Science & Technology
Jordan Henry, a graduating senior from St. Charles, Missouri, helped the Miners claim the school’s first GLVC team titles during both the indoor and outdoor season. He was named the GLVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year after claiming the GLVC title in the heptathlon and finishing second in the pole vault. He finished second in the pole vault at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. Henry returned at the GLVC Outdoor Championships to win the pole vault with a mark of 17-0 ¾. He matched the mark at the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships to finish fifth in the pole vault. The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team selection and male recipient of the Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award is the co-holder of the S&T school record in the outdoor pole vault. He finished his degree in Electrical Engineering with a 3.91 cumulative GPA and posted a 4.00 GPA in his final semester. Henry was also selected as the GLVC Men’s Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2008. |

Women’s Track & Field: Emily Schaf, University of Indianapolis
Emily Schaf, a senior from Boggstown, Indiana, shined in both the outdoor and indoor season for the Greyhounds. She led UIndy to the team titles at the GLVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships and qualified for the national championships during each season. Schaf, who has maintained a 3.983 cumulative GPA, is working toward her doctorate as she was accepted to the Doctoral program for Physical Therapy after only three years of undergraduate work. Schaf was the GLVC indoor and outdoor champion in the high jump and also placed second in the outdoor triple jump and third in the indoor triple jump. She was named an All-American for the fourth time after finishing seventh in the high jump at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships. Schaf placed 11th at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in the high jump. |

Baseball: Evan McDole, Northern Kentucky University
Evan McDole, a junior standout for the Norse, helped Northern Kentucky win its second straight GLVC Baseball Championship in 2009. McDole, a native of Cold Springs, Kentucky, was named the GLVC Baseball Player of the Year after hitting .355 with 55 RBIs, 58 runs, 17 doubles and a league-best 15 home runs. He also led the league in slugging percentage (.670), on-base percentage (.490) and walks (45). McDole was named to the ABCA All-Region and Daktronics All-Region Teams and was selected the Midwest Player of the Year by both organizations. He was also the Midwest Region Gold Glove Award winner and was named to ESPN the Magazine’s Academic All-American Second Team. McDole, who boasts a 3.825 cumulative GPA in Accounting and Business Administration, helped the Norse to a 41-22 overall record and 18-6 mark in the GLVC. |

Softball: Haleigh Ashworth, Kentucky Wesleyan College
Haleigh Ashworth, a senior from Owensboro, Kentucky, completed a stellar four-year career for the Panthers by contributing at the plate and in the circle in her final season. Ashworth led the Panthers with a 2.12 ERA, 15 wins, 162 strikeouts, seven shutouts and 25 complete games. She also hit .353 with 32 RBIs, and 11 doubles. Ashworth led the GLVC in doubles and ranked fifth in the league in strikeouts. She was named to the All-GLVC First Team and was an All-Midwest Region Second Team selection. The four-time GLVC All-Academic Team honoree maintained a 3.883 cumulative GPA and finished her final semester with a 3.60 GPA in Business Administration and Economics. Ashworth helped the Panthers to a 20-26 overall record and 8-16 mark in the GLVC. |
