Jessica (Yocum) Howe, a former softball standout at the University of Illinois Springfield, enters 2024-25 in her 11th year as the GLVC’s Communications Coordinator for Awards and Archives.

Yocum served as the Conference office intern during the 2012-13 season, and assisted with the league's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and compliance efforts. The Springfield, Ill., native played an integral role in the research and development of the first-ever GLVC Records Book. She also traveled to several Conference-related events, including championships, administrative meetings, and the annual Enterprise Rent-A-Car GLVC Awards Reception in May.

In her current role, Yocum will continue her efforts in compiling the GLVC Records Book and assist with preseason polls, the All-Conference process, and major end-of-year Conference awards.

Yocum graduated from UIS in May 2012 with a degree in biology. She played four years on the diamond for the Prairie Stars and served as captain on a team that earned a share of the GLVC West Division crown with a 22-12 record in 2012. Yocum was a recipient of the Ron Gibbs Memorial Scholarship and a Scholarship Narrative Candidate, chosen as the UIS representative by the University of Illinois to display in the community and to alumni as models for scholarship donations. She earned her MBA from Lindenwood Univeristy in 2013.
