2019 GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championship
Returns to the University of Indianapolis

The 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Athletics & Recreation Center (ARC) on the campus of the University of Indianapolis on Feb. 23-24. The 2019 edition marks the 20th annual GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championship.

The two-day event will once again be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network.  Nearly 13 hours of coverage will be made available for free for all visitors at GLVCSN.com.

In 2018, host UIndy ended Lewis University’s four-year streak of league crowns by producing a winning total of 133.50 points, more than 21 points ahead of the runner-up Flyers.  Missouri S&T was third with 94 points, followed by McKendree (84), Southern Indiana (59.5), Bellarmine (59), Maryville (16), Truman State (13), and Illinois Springfield (9) in the top 10.

Perhaps it was fitting that UIndy put an end to the Flyers’ drive for five titles as it was Lewis back in 2014 that put a halt to UIndy’s four-peat of conference titles from 2010-13.  The Greyhounds now own five GLVC indoor titles, which are tied with Lewis for the most conference crowns in league history.  Former GLVC member SIU Edwardsville follows with four, while Missouri S&T has earned one.

One year after finishing runner-up to Lewis in a lopsided affair, 202-121, the Bellarmine women secured their third GLVC title in the event’s final race of the championship, the 4x400-meter relay.  Their first-place result in the event locked up the title for the Knights, 143-139, making the four-point margin of victory the narrowest in GLVC Championship history.

Indianapolis was third with 117 points, followed by McKendree (84), Southern Indiana (49), Truman State (28.5), William Jewell College (24), Drury (20), Missouri S&T (20) and Maryville (6) in the top 10.

Lewis owns the women's lead with six titles, followed by SIU Edwardsville with five GLVC wins, while Bellarmine (3) and Indianapolis (1) have also captured past crowns.
