GLVCSN Coverage Announced for GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships

 

INDIANAPOLIS – The GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN) will stream approximately 13 hours of the 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, which are set to take place Feb. 26-27 at the Athletics & Recreation Center (ARC) on the campus of the University of Indianapolis. The 2022 edition marks the 22nd annual GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The two-day event will once again be available for free on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV.

Fourteen men’s and women’s programs will be vying for the GLVC Championship, including Drury University, University of Illinois Springfield, Indianapolis, Lewis University, Lindenwood University, Maryville University, McKendree University, Missouri S&T, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Quincy University, University of Southern Indiana, Southwest Baptist University, Truman State University, and William Jewell College.

GLVCSN will begin streaming at 3:20 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, which is 10 minutes prior to the start of the men’s pole vault and 40 minutes ahead of the day’s first running event with the preliminaries of the women’s and men’s 60-meter hurdles. Coverage will continue throughout the day with live action of the 60-, 200- and 400-meter dash preliminaries, as well as the finals of the 5,000-meter run and the distance medley relay. Saturday’s streaming, which concludes at 9 p.m., will also feature the awards ceremonies for the men’s pole vault, the men’s and women’s long jump and weight throw, and the pentathlon. Select coverage of the aforementioned field events will be provided throughout the afternoon. 

On Sunday, coverage begins at 11:20 a.m. ET and will lead into the women’s triple jump, men’s shot put, and men’s high jump, which begin simultaneously at 11:30 a.m. The men’s triple jump and women’s shot put, high jump, and pole vault will follow around 1:30 p.m. GLVCSN will air both the women’s and men’s mile, along with the finals of the 60-, 200-, 400-, 800-, and 3,000-meter races, as well as the 60-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay, as the meet’s finale. All event award winners, including the men’s heptathlon champion will be featured during Sunday’s live action.  

Following the conclusion of the meet, GLVCSN will remain online to bring fans the GLVC Championships awards ceremony, which will honor the Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Freshman, and Coach of the Year on both the men’s and women’s side, along with the 2022 GLVC team champions. 

The 2021 Indoor meet was canceled due to COVID-19, but the 2020 affair saw wins for the Lewis women and Missouri S&T men. The Flyers won their eighth GLVC title, while the Miners won for the first time in 11 years.

Lewis owns the women's lead with their eight titles, followed by former league member SIU Edwardsville with five GLVC wins, while another former member Bellarmine has three, and Indianapolis has also captured one past crowns. The Greyhound men own six GLVC indoor titles, followed by Lewis with five. SIU Edwardsville follows with four, while Missouri S&T has now earned two.  
 
Action gets underway Saturday with the women’s pentathlon and men’s heptathlon events beginning at 9 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. ET, respectively. Field events will be contested at 3:30 p.m., with running events starting at 4 p.m.

Single-day tickets are available for $12 for adults, while students with a valid college ID and youth aged 6-17 are admitted for $5, and children 5 and under are free of charge. Purchasing tickets online before arrival is strongly encouraged at GLVCsports.com/tickets, and cash will NOT be accepted on site for entry. Masking will also be required for spectators inside the facility.
