Newman, OC Unbeaten After Day One of GLVC Women’s Bowling Championship Tournament

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Day one of the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Bowling Championship Tournament has concluded with second-seeded Newman and fifth-seeded Oklahoma Christian going unbeaten Friday at Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville, Illinois.
 
The three-day event features double-elimination action, with each match beginning with a Traditional single-game total, followed by a five-game Baker format total, and then a best-of-seven Baker format, if necessary.
 
Day two of the postseason affair gets started once again at 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday with a pair of games between Maryville and Quincy on lanes nine and ten, as well as McKendree and Central Missouri on lanes 13 and 14. The winners of those match will face off against each other at 1:30 p.m. on lanes nine and ten, while Newman and Oklahoma Christian will bowl on lanes 13 and 14.

MORNING SESSION (8:30 AM CT)

No. 1 MARYVILLE (965, 1058) def. No. 8 INDIANAPOLIS (843, 783), 2-0
  • Maryville’s Brooke Pabst and Morgan Brunner led the Saints in the Traditional game win, knocking down 222 pins each.
  • Taylor Stace and Emily Heidman knocked 190 pins down for the Hounds.
  • Maryville averaged 211.6 in the Baker portion to finish off the mega match.

No. 2 NEWMAN (943, 1122) def. No. 7 QUINCY (871, 934), 2-0
  • Newman knocked down a total of 2,065 pins to snag the 2-0 sweep over Quincy (1,805).
  • Jets’ Danielle Wahlbaum led the team with a 212 game in Traditional play.
  • Lillian Fields of Quincy recorded the highest total for the Hawks, knocking down 188 pins in Traditional.
 
No. 3 MCKENDREE (842, 893, 4) def. No. 6 LEWIS (961, 794, 2), 2-1
  • Lewis came out the gate flying, taking the Traditional game, led by Kadie Kontos’ 224.
  • McKendree fought back with a 99-pin victory in the Baker leg.
  • McKendree ousted Lewis in the best-of-seven Bakers, 4-2.

No. 5 OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN (939, 956, 4) def. No. 4 CENTRAL MISSOURI (937, 1004, 2), 2-1
  • OC claimed the first portion by just two pins (939-937).
    • Zandria Davis led the Eagles with a 200 Traditional game.
  • UCM locked up the second leg with a 200.8 Baker average, including a 237 game.
  • OC closed the door in the best-of-seven Baker games by winning four to UCM’s two.
 
AFTERNOON SESSION (1:30 PM CT)
 
No. 5 OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN (1008, 992) def. No. 1 MARYVILLE (923, 961), 2-0
  • OC’s Tori Justice and Rhiannon Davis led the charge in the Traditional segment, recording games of 235 and 227, respectively.
  • Maryville was led by Caitlyn Johnson, who rolled a game of 225.
  • After trailing by 41 pins following the first Baker contest, OC took the reins and edged out Maryville by 31 to solidify the victory.

No. 2 NEWMAN (881, 971) def. No. 3 MCKENDREE (840, 887), 2-0
  • Newman was paced by Kassidy Miller in Traditional play, recording a 231 game.
  • Newman continued its dominance in the Baker portion, winning by 84 pins with a 243 game highlighting the five-game set.

No. 4 CENTRAL MISSOURI (959, 887, 4) def. No. 8 INDIANAPOLIS (786, 933, 2), 2-1
  • UCM’s Traditional average of 191.8 was aided by a team-high 227 game from Sydney Lee.
  • UIndy tied the mega match at one after averaging 186.6 in Baker play, including the highest single-game score of the day (262).
  • UCM staved off elimination in the best-of seven Baker portion, taking down the Greyhounds 4-2.

No. 7 QUINCY (838, 824, 4) def. No. 6 LEWIS (786, 919, 1), 2-1
  • Quincy’s Fernanda Garcia knocked down 190 pins to lead the Hawks in the Traditional section.
  • Lewis rebounded with a 95-pin victory in the Baker leg to knot the match at one.
  • Quincy found its groove again in the best-of-seven section, grabbing four out of five games to eliminate the Flyers.
