INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis won the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday at the Athletics & Recreation Center on University of Indianapolis’ campus.
The Greyhounds secured their second overall title with 132 points on the weekend, five points more than runner-up Lewis (127). The Flyers had claimed the last six straight GLVC Women’s Indoor Track & Field titles.
Lincoln finished third with 101 points, while Southwest Baptist (87), Maryville (50), Missouri S&T (36.5), McKendree (32), and Drury (30) were fourth through eighth. Rockhurst (22), Truman State (19.5), Quincy (12), Illinois Springfield (11), and Upper Iowa (2) rounded out the points finishers in ninth to 13th respectively. William Jewell did not score any points.
Four field events and eight running events saw new GLVC champions crowned on Sunday, in addition to two league marks being broken. Field event winners included: Lewis senior Denise Hernandez (triple jump, 12.18m, 39’-11.50”), Indianapolis sophomore Vivian Osagie (shot put, 15.61m, 51’-2.75”, GLVC record), Indianapolis junior Francesca Maurino (high jump, 1.71m, 5’-7.25”), and Lewis senior Brynlee Keeran (pole vault, 3.74m, 12’-3.25”). Running event winners included: Indianapolis senior Hailey Orosz (mile run, 5:04.49), Lincoln junior Aaliyannah Anderson (60m hurdles, 8.49, broke GLVC Record in Prelims, 8.44), SBU junior Laura Dixon (400m dash, 55.935, .001 faster than second place), Maryville senior Sarai Brown (60m dash, 7.37, GLVC record, previously set in prelims), SBU senior Emily Young (800m run, 2:17.10), Brown (200m dash, 24.09), and UIS senior Maddie Miller-Ross (3,000 meters, 9:41.03, GLVC Record). Also, Lincoln won the 4x400 relay (3:51.63) to conclude the night.
The top-three finishers in all events were named All-Conference honorees.
At the conclusion of the event, Maryville’s Brown was voted by the league coaches as GLVC Track Athlete of the Year, while Lewis’ Hernandez was chosen as the GLVC Field Athlete of the Year. UIndy newcomer Amiah Rhodes was named GLVC Freshman of the Year and Greyhounds’ mentor Brad Robinson was recognized by his peers as GLVC Coach of the Year for the first time.
In addition, Southwest Baptist was named the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Award winner, while 14 student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also recognized as the sport’s GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Individual honorees. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school’s two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
