INDIANAPOLIS – The 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament bracket was released by the Conference office Saturday evening, following the finale of the 2021-22 regular season. All 15 league schools will compete in the postseason tournament, earning their seeds based on the GLVC Point Rating System rankings. The tournament’s first round games will take place on campus sites Monday, Feb. 28, with the winners of those games advancing to First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center on the campus of SIU Edwardsville, March 3-6.
East Division Champion and top-seeded University of Southern Indiana (21-4, 15-2 GLVC, 4.44 PRS) concluded the regular season with a 68-42 win over Lindenwood and enters the GLVC Championship Tournament as the No. 1 seed, earning a first-round bye. USI will face the winner of No. 8 seed Southwest Baptist University (15-13, 10-10, 3.13) and No. 9 seed University of Indianapolis (10-16, 7-11, 3.00) on Thursday, March 3 at 12 p.m. Central Time in the first quarterfinal. The Greyhounds and Bearcats will play Monday, Feb. 28, at 5:30 p.m. Central Time.
West Division Champion and 2-seed Drury University (27-4, 17-3, 4.30) opens tournament play against No. 15 William Jewell College (1-24, 0-19, 1.63) on Monday at 6 p.m. CT. The Panthers claimed the second seed in a tiebreaker with University of Missouri-St. Louis due to the Panthers beating top-seeded USI in their matchup earlier this year, while the Tritons fell to the Screaming Eagles in their lone matchup. The winner of that game will take on the winner on No. 7 Rockhurst University (15-11, 11-9, 3.35) and No. 10 Lindenwood University (11-14, 8-10, 2.92) on Thursday, March 3, at 2:30 p.m. CT. The Hawks and Lions will play Monday in Kansas City at 7 p.m. CT.
Central Division Champion and third-seeded Missouri-St. Louis (21-4, 17-3, 4.30 PRS) will begin its postseason on Monday at home against 14th-seeded McKendree University at 5:30 p.m. CT. The Tritons closed out the regular season with an 84-54 win against the Bearcats tonight. No. 6 seed Illinois Springfield (16-9. 11-8, 3.38) and No. 11 seed Missouri S&T (11-15, 8-12, 2.88) will go head-to-head in Springfield on Monday at 5:30 p.m. CT with the winner of that game earning a quarterfinal matchup against the winner of UMSL-McKendree on Thursday, March 4, at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Fifth-seeded Lewis University (13-14, 11-8, 3.50 PRS) ended its regular season with a loss Saturday afternoon at the hands of Missouri S&T. The Flyers will host 12-seed Maryville (13-12, 9-10, 2.83 PRS) on Monday at 5 p.m. Central before the winner heads to Edwardsville to take on the winner of No. 4 Truman State University (17-9, 13-5, 3.79) and No. 13 Quincy University (9-19, 5-15, 2.35) on Thursday, March 4 at 12 p.m. The Bulldogs and Hawks will play Monday at 5:15 p.m. CT.
Both the women’s and men’s semifinals will commence on Saturday, March 5, as the women take to the court at noon and 2:30 p.m., followed by the men at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
The women’s GLVC Champion will be crowned at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, followed by the men’s final at 3:30 p.m.
All-Tournament passes are $45, while Session Flex Passes are $35, allowing access to any two of the first six sessions, excluding Sunday's finals. Single-session tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students with a valid ID and youth 6-17 in age, while children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
