UMSL, UIndy Advance to Semifinals of GLVC Men’s Basketball Tournament

 

INDIANAPOLIS – Two more Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men's basketball teams advanced to the semifinal round of the 2022 GLVC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament in Edwardsville, Illinois, on the campus of SIUE at First Community Arena March 5. University of Missouri-St. Louis and University of Indianapolis filled out the rest of the semifinal field Friday afternoon to take on William Jewell College and Lewis University, respectively.

Fans who will be attending March 3-6 can purchase tickets online at GLVCsports.com/HoopsTickets, and those who can't attend can watch on all GLVCSN platforms for $15 per individual game or $35 for an all-tournament pass for either the men's or women's tournament. A tightly contested game through most of the first half until the Tritons began to pull away and took an 11-point lead into the break. UMSL led by as many as 27 in the game before beating USI for the second time this season. USML’s Shane Wissink led the way scoring a game-high 28 points, shooting 7-for-10 from beyond the arc in a winning effort.

For the second-straight season, the Greyhounds knocked off the higher-seeded Bulldogs in the quarterfinals to keep their season going. UIndy went up by 16 at one point before Truman made it a one possession game with just 20 seconds left to go. The Bulldogs tried to extend the game with free throws but UIndy was able to convert at the line on their way to the upset win. UIndy set a program GLVC tournament record for three-point field goals made in a game (14) as well as three-point field goal percentage (56%) as they face No. 2 Lewis tomorrow.
