Lindenwood Claims First GLVC Men's Lacrosse Title

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in Conference history, Lindenwood University has won the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament. The No. 3 Lions defeated top-seeded University of Indianapolis 13-10 at Key Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Lions jumped out to the 1-0 advantage early on before UIndy scored the game’s next three goals. The Lions would quickly respond by scoring five goals in a row as they would eventually take a 7-4 lead into halftime. UIndy cut down the Lindenwood lead down to two goals in the third period, but it was not enough as every time the Greyhounds would score the Lions had an answer as they snapped UIndy’s streak of three consecutive league titles.

GLVC Player of the Year Patrick Kaschalk once again proved why he was the league’s top player as he led all scorers with nine points on seven goals and a pair of assists on the afternoon. Peter Covington and Cam Smith each finished with a pair of goals in the win as well.

UIndy’s offensive attack came from Drew Billig who had seven points on a pair of goals and five assists on the afternoon.

GLVC Goalkeeper of the Year Kyle Hebert recorded 14 saves in the win for the Lions while Austin Barnett made a dozen saves between the pipes for UIndy.

The NCAA selection show for the 2022 Men’s Lacrosse Championship will be live next Sunday evening on NCAA.com.
