UIndy Tabbed GLVC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Favorite



INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis was voted in the preseason coaches' poll as the choice to win the 2023 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men's lacrosse championship, the league office announced on Wednesday.

The preseason poll is determined by the league's head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
No. 1 Indianapolis
  • Received five first-place votes and 25 total points.
  • Ranked No. 8 in USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Poll.
  • Earned share of GLVC Regular Season title and top seed in GLVC Championship a year ago, finishing as runner-up.
  • Made third-straight appearance in NCAA Championship this past year.
  • Coached by Greg Stocks, who enters his ninth season after a 14-4 overall and 5-1 GLVC record in 2022.
  • Return GLVC Specialty Player of the Year, Kyle Basch, fellow First Team All-GLVC selections Drew Billig, Josh Jackson, and Caleb Parker, Second Team selections Wyatt Auyer and Evan Soucy, as well as Honorable Mention selections Ben Foster and Dougie Crawford.

T-No. 2 Lewis
  • Received one first-place vote and 19 total points.
  • Earned No. 4 seed in GLVC Championship this past year.
  • Coached by Joe Perruzzi, who enters his fourth year after a 9-6 overall and 3-3 GLVC record in 2022.
  • Return Second Team All-GLVC selections Evan Clement and Baden Boyenko, along with Honorable Mention selections Drew Andre, Nolan Dalep, Sam Kern, and Zack Merwin.

T-No. 2 Rockhurst
  • Received 19 total points.
  • Earned share of GLVC Regular Season title and No. 2 seed at GLVC Championship last season.
  • Coached by Kevin Kelley, who enters his 10th season after an 8-6 overall and 5-1 GLVC record in 2022.
  • Return First Team All-GLVC selections Alec Heflin and Luke Goetz, as well as Honorable Mention selections Matt Buckley, Matt Campion, Hayden Harris, and Luke Leonard.
 
 No. 4 Maryville
  • Received 13 total points.
  • Finished fifth in GLVC regular season standings this past year.
  • Coached by Scott Stark, who enters his third season after a 9-5 overall and 2-4 GLVC record in 2022.
  • Return First Team All-GLVC selection Reid Usrey, Second Team selection Eskander Ben Aissa, and Honorable Mention selections Zach Baker and Cooper George.

Rounding out the poll respectively in fifth and sixth was Davenport University (8 points) and Quincy University (6).
