McKendree, Maryville Earn Bid to NCAA Women's Soccer Regional



INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Committee announced the field of 56 teams for the 2023 Division II Women's Soccer Championship, and two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) teams made the cut. 

As the 6-seed, GLVC Champion and automatic qualifier McKendree University (16-1-3) will be making its seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA postseason after winning its fourth GLVC title on Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats will take on third-seeded Grand Valley State (11-3-6), which earned an at-large bid out of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association (GLIAC), on Friday, Nov. 17 at 10 AM CT in Marquette, Mich.

Maryville University (13-2-4) earned an at-large berth as the 7-seed in the regional and will also travel to Marquette to take on host and 2-seed Northern Michigan in the Saints second appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Wildcats earned the GLIAC's automatic bid after winning the league title. Maryville and NMU will play Friday, Nov. 17 at 1 PM.

The two winning teams from those games will play one another on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 1 PM in the second round.

Ashland, Michigan Tech, Northwood, and Cedarville will be competing against one another as seeds 1, 8, 4, and 5, respectively, in Ashland, Ohio, at the same time.

The finalists out of each sub-region will compete for the regional title in the third round on Nov. 30 or Dec. 1, while that winner will advance to the quarterfinals on either Dec. 2 or 3, with the semifinals being contested on Dec. 7 and the championship match taking place Dec. 9 at the Matthews Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C.
