INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released Saturday night the bracket for the 2023 GLVC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament. Regular Season Champion Drury University earned the No. 1 overall seed, while Lewis University gleaned the second seed, Truman State University was tabbed as the 3-seed, and University of Indianapolis claimed the 4-seed. The Tournament is being held in St. Charles, Mo., at Hyland Arena for the first time from Thursday, Mar. 2 through Sunday, Mar. 5.
Missouri S&T and Maryville University earned seeds 5-6, while McKendree University and Quincy University filled spots No. 7 and 8, respectively. The eight-team tournament is seeded 1-8 based on the GLVC Point Rating System (PRS) rankings.
Quarterfinal 1: #1 Drury vs. #8 Quincy | Thursday, Mar. 2, 6 PM CT
- Drury went 27-1 overall and 20-0 in GLVC action with a 4.85 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Panthers earned the GLVC Regular Season title and now have won either the Regular Season or Divisional crown for 10 consecutive years.
- Quincy went 13-15 overall and 9-11 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- The second-ranked Panthers swept the Hawks this season with a 77-55 home win Dec. 10 and an 87-49 road win Jan. 16.
- Quincy is making its 19th appearance in the GLVC postseason, but first since 2016 – with the exception of last year when all 15 schools qualified – and have won Conference titles in 2004 and 2005.
- Drury is making its 17th appearance in the GLVC postseason, having qualified every year since 2006 with a league-high nine GLVC Championship Tournament titles, including the last six in a row.
Quarterfinal 2: #2 Lewis vs. #7 McKendree | Thursday, Mar. 2, 8:15 PM CT
- Lewis went 19-9 overall and 15-5 in GLVC action with a 3.83 PRS Rating during the regular season.
- McKendree went 12-15 overall and 9-11 in GLVC action with a 2.95 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Flyers beat the Bearcats this season with a 79-62 road win Jan. 19.
- Lewis is making its 37th appearance in the GLVC postseason and 15th in a row with five Conference titles to its name.
- McKendree is making its fifth appearance in the GLVC postseason.
Quarterfinal 3: #4 Indianapolis vs. #5 Missouri S&T | Friday, Mar. 3, 6 PM CT
- Indianapolis went 17-11 overall and 13-7 in GLVC action with a 3.58 PRS rating during the regular season.
- Missouri S&T went 15-13 overall and 11-9 in GLVC action with a 3.28 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Miners beat the Greyhounds on the road 72-67 Jan. 12, but the Hounds returned the favor and defeated S&T in Rolla earlier this afternoon, Feb. 25, 73-57.
- UIndy is making its 34th appearance in the GLVC postseason and fourth in a row, claiming a Conference title in 1993 and 2003.
- S&T is making its 11th appearance in the GLVC postseason, but first since 2014 – with the exception of last year when all 15 schools qualified.
Quarterfinal 4: #3 Truman State vs. #6 Maryville | Friday, Mar. 3, 8:15 PM CT
- Truman went 19-9 overall and 15-5 in GLVC action with a 3.70 PRS rating during the regular season.
- Maryville went 15-12 overall and 10-10 in GLVC action with a 3.03 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Bulldogs beat the Saints 99-97 in overtime at home Jan. 26.
- Truman is making its 10th appearance in the GLVC postseason and claimed a Conference title in 2014 during its first year of league membership.
- Maryville is making its 10th appearance in the GLVC postseason and claimed a Conference title in 2012 during its first year of league membership.
The four quarterfinal winners will compete in the semifinals on Saturday, March 4, at 6 and 8:15 PM, while the semifinal winners will compete for the 2023 trophy on Sunday, Mar. 5 at 3:30 PM.
