GLVCSN to Stream Complete PPV Coverage of GLVC Swimming & Diving Championships

 

INDIANAPOLIS – The GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN) will stream complete pay-per-view coverage of the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, which begins Tuesday night, Feb. 6, at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana.

The five-day meet spans Feb. 6-10 and will feature over 400 student-athletes from 11 men's teams and 10 women's squads, representing 11 member institutions. Ten GLVC schools currently sponsor both men's and women's swimming and diving, including Drury University, University of Indianapolis, Lewis University, Maryville University, McKendree University, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Quincy University, Rockhurst University, Truman State University, and William Jewell College. Missouri S&T fields only a men's squad.

GLVC swimming and diving fans will be treated to complete coverage of 14 broadcasts that span 42 events, including 19 finals in swimming and four in diving. Both John Edwards and Mark Mullin return to the headset as play-by-play and color commentators, respectively, while Sara Dayley – who has been part of the GLVCSN team for several other championship broadcasts – joins this event for the first time as an on-deck reporter and the exclusive diving expert.

Action gets underway with the 800 Freestyle Relay being contested Tuesday night at 6 PM Central Time (CT), while preliminaries kick off on Wednesday morning at 10 AM CT with the 200 Individual Medley and 50 Freestyle, as well as timed finals of the 1,000 Free, except for the last heat. In the evening session, the final heat of the 1,000 Free will take place first at 5:30 PM, followed by the 200 IM, 50 Free, and 200 Medley Relay. 

All morning prelim sessions begin at 10 AM, while every evening finals session commences at 5:30 PM. In between those two sessions, the diving competition for 1-meter and 3-meter takes place at 12:30 PM every day and will include both prelims and finals with a short break in between. All broadcasts will begin approximately 10 minutes prior to each session.
 
The 2024 GLVC Swimming & Diving Championships can be seen live on all GLVCSN platforms, including GLVCSN.com, GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV. An all-session pass will be available for purchase at $70, while the Tuesday night relays will be $5 and each day following will be $20 per day. The GLVC ranks among the NCAA Division II powerhouse conferences as five men’s teams and five women’s squads were recognized in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Poll. No. 1 Indianapolis paces the men’s contingent, followed by No. 2 Drury, No. 6 McKendree, No. 10 Lewis, and No. 24 Missouri S&T. Drury is the highest ranked team on the women's side at No. 2, followed by UIndy at No. 4, McKendree in 10th, Missouri-St. Louis in 25th, and Lewis receiving votes.

UIndy scored a GLVC-record 1,950 points to secure its first-ever GLVC women's title, besting the previous league mark of 1,878.5 points set in last season’s GLVC Championship by this year’s runner-up Drury University (1,758 points). McKendree University (1,293) finished in third place, while Lewis University (859) and University of Missouri-St. Louis (792) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively. Truman State University (767) and William Jewell College (617) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, while Maryville University (334) and Quincy University (174) completed the nine-team field.
 
The Drury men accrued a GLVC-record 1,701 points for the win and its sixth overall league title in the 10-year history of the Conference, followed by last year’s champion University of Indianapolis (1,562) in second. McKendree University (1,423) placed third, while Missouri S&T (1,178) placed fourth. The University of Missouri-St. Louis (789) was fifth, Lewis University (767.5) finished sixth, and William Jewell College (494) was seventh. Quincy University (368), Truman State University (365.5), and Maryville University (219) rounded out the 10-team field in eighth through 10th, respectively.
 
A total of 15 records were broken at the 2023 Championship meet, including 11 on the men's side.
