Quincy Wins Third GLVC Women’s Basketball Crown

ST. CHARLES, MO. – No. 3 seed Quincy University captured the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women's Basketball Championship title on Sunday with a 64-60 victory over No. 5 seed Maryville University in Hyland Arena.
 
Quincy, with its third overall and first league title since the Hawks won back-to-back titles in 2004 and 2005, clinches the league’s automatic-qualifying bid to the 2025 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional where they will face the top seed and hosts Grand Valley State.

The Hawks did not take a lead until the 7:48 mark of the fourth quarter but closed out the game on a 7-2 run to win the championship. Quincy shot 38.7% from the field (24-of-62), going 25.0% (5-of-20) from three, and 52.4% (11-of-21) from the foul line. Quincy held Maryville to 34.8% (24-of-69) from the field and 26.7% (8-of-30) from three, while the Saints went 100% (4-of-4) from the foul line. Maryville did lead in points off turnovers scoring 28 to the Hawks’ 6.
 
Three of the five Quincy starters finished in double figures, led by Nicole McDermott’s game-high 16 points on 7-of-12 (.583) shooting, while she also added three rebounds, and four assists. Mikayla Huffine and Cymirah Williams also scored in double figures with Huffine having 13 and Williams 11.
 
Maryville was paced by Lindsey Schadewalt and Adylan Ayer who both had 16 points apiece.
 
McDermott was named to the All-Tournament team as the Most Valuable Player, while her teammate Williams was also recognized. Maryville’s Schadewalt and Gracie Stugart as well as Drury’s Caitlynn Daniels rounded out the five-player squad.
