Lewis Voted to Repeat as GLVC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Champions

INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University was voted in the preseason coaches’ poll as the choice to win the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women’s outdoor track and field title, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The preseason poll is selected by the league’s head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
No. 1 Lewis
  • Received 12 first-place votes and 194 total points.
  • Won program’s eighth consecutive and record 14th overall GLVC Championship.
  • Coached by Dana Schwarting, who enters his 19th season and is the reigning GLVC Coach of the Year.
  • Return 2024 GLVC Champions Mary Edwards (3k Steeplechase), Brynlee Keeran (Triple Jump), Anna Kozak (1500m), and Hannah Smrcka (5k), along with several other top-three finishers and All-GLVC honorees, also return.

No. 2 Lincoln
  • Received two first-place votes and 182 total points.
  • Finished fifth at GLVC Championship and tied for 13th at the NCAA Division II Championships last season.
  • Coached by Victor Thomas in his 23rd season.
  • Return 2024 NCAA Championship runner-up in the 400m Hurdles, Odeshia Nanton, and All-American Maria Diamond who placed sixth in the 400m Hurdles at the NCAA Championships.

No. 3 Indianapolis
  • Received one first-place vote and 168 total points.
  • Finished third at GLVC Championship and tied for 17th at the NCAA Division II Championships last season.
  • Coached by Brad Robinson in his second season.
  • Return 2024 All-GLVC hammer throw champion, Zoe Pentecost, Heptathlon and 400-meter hurdles champion, Ellie Lengerich, as well as long jump third-place finisher Joanna Fields.
    • Pentecost is the reigning NCAA Champion in the hammer.

 No. 4 Southwest Baptist
  • Received 154 total points.
  • Finished runner-up at GLVC Championship last season.
  • Coached by Corey McElhaney, who enters his 18th season.
  • Return All-GLVC Champion Collinique Farrington (100m, 200m, 400m), 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay, and runner-up Lily Simmons (high jump, heptathlon).

Rounding out the poll respectively in fifth through 15th was Missouri S&T (145 points), Maryville University (126), Truman State University (118), William Jewell College (96), McKendree University (85), Drury University (80), University of Illinois Springfield (72), Upper Iowa University (46), University of Missouri-St. Louis (42), Rockhurst University (40), and Quincy University (25).
