Briones Named Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell College Associate Vice President for Athletics Chris McCabe has announced that Andrew Briones will shed the interim tag and remain with the Cardinals as the head men's lacrosse coach, effective immediately.

Briones took over the program on January 8 after the departure of Ryan Burke, who led Jewell in its inaugural season in 2024. In his two years on The Hill, Briones has helped the Cardinals to nine wins, including a 7-8 record in their debut. He won his first game as a collegiate head coach on February 9, 2025, in a 13-8 victory over Chowan University.

Prior to his arrival at Jewell, he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Lincoln Memorial, helping the LMU program to a 2023 conference playoff appearance after going winless two years prior. As a collegiate player, he was a team captain and four-year letterwinner for Newberry College, helping start the program in 2017. As a senior, he was a finalist for the SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in men's lacrosse and was a member of the Summerland Honors Program.

A native of Friendswood, Texas, Briones holds an undergraduate degree in marketing and business administration from Newberry College and a master's degree from Lincoln Memorial.
