UIndy, UIS Secure Spots in GLVC Softball Championship Matchup

EAST PEORIA, Ill. – No. 6 University of Indianapolis and No. 5 University of Illinois Springfield advanced to the final day of the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Softball Championship Tournament on Friday from the EastSide Centre.

UIndy remained undefeated after taking down No. 1 Drury University in the first game to grab Championship Sunday spot. UIS avoided elimination twice, besting No. 7 Missouri S&T and Drury and achieving their first championship appearance since 2012.

The Greyhounds need just one win to take home the title, while the Prairie Stars will need to beat UIndy twice to be crowned champions. The first contest will take place at 10 a.m. CT, with the if-necessary game beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m.

  • Jocelyn Calvin drove in both of UINDY’s runs in her first two at-bats, knocking an RBI single in the first and third innings.
  • DU’s Brooklyn LaChappa slapped a fourth-inning RBI double to cut the deficit in half, but the Panthers failed to score any more runs against GLVC Freshman of the Year Cheyenne Eads.
  • Eads tossed all seven frames, allowing six hits and zero walks while striking out seven.
  • Jordan Foley of DU gave up just one run in 6.2 innings of work after entering midway through the first inning.
  • UIndy’s Brooklyn Willis reached base in all four appearances, going 3-for-3 with one triple and one walk.

  • UIS scored the lone two runs of the game in the sixth inning, tallying one on an error and the other on Malia Bender’s sac fly.
  • UIS hurler Taylor Zawacki threw a four-hit shutout, punching out seven.
  • S&T’s Mia Miller gave up one earned run on six hits in her six inning, complete-game performance.

  • UIS led coast-to-coast with one run in the first frame, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh.
  • Isabella Wilson and Olivia DeLuca hit back-to-back RBI doubles to provide UIS with some insurance heading into the bottom half of the seventh.
  • UIS’s Rosie Bartletti shut the door on the Panthers, finishing with a line of one run allowed and four strikeouts.
  • UIS’s Zawacki contributed the first two RBIs, while Wilson finished with a team-high two hits.
