Lewis' Bilecki Drafted by San Diego in MLB Draft

ATLANTA – Former Lewis University baseball alumni George Bilecki was drafted on Monday by the San Diego Padres in the 12th round.

As the 370th pick, Bilecki is coming off of a stellar season with the Flyers batting with an average of .361 with 66 RBIs and 22 home runs. When facing conference opponents, Bilecki averaged .405 with 18 home runs. The impressive offensive season from Bilecki helped his team with the GLVC Regular Season Championship as well as punch the Flyers ticket to the NCAA National Tournament.

"We are really happy for George and his family," said Lewis baseball head coach Mike Vuscko. " When we recruited George in the summer of 2021, he committed shortly after that. In the Fall him and his fellow classmate Colin Amsden came to watch a practice. When I was sitting with George he asked me when the last player drafted out of Lewis was? Followed with 'I am going to be the next.' Here we are four years later. He earned every bit of this and we are excited to watch his future."

Lewis Athletics wants to wish George the best of luck and for him to know everyone at Lewis is cheering him on as he takes this next step of his life, and as always FLY AS ONE.
