UIndy’s Buessing Named D2CCA Men’s Midwest Region Scholar-Athlete of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS—The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) released the regional winners for the 2024-25 Scholar-Athletes of the Year awards. University of Indianapolis’s Cedric Buessing has been selected to represent the Midwest region, which consists of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
 
Buessing graduated from Indianapolis in the Spring with a 3.88 GPA in Business Administration and Management. The Grevenbroich Germany native earned two All-American honors this past season, including a runner-up finish in the 1000 yard freestyle at the 2025 NCAA National Championships. A four-time GLVC Swimmer of the Year, Buessing earned the GLVC Scharf Paragon Award, bestowed annually by the GLVC to one male and one female student-athlete who display academic excellence, athletic ability and achievement, character, and leadership.
 
Each of the eight regional winners will advance to the national ballot, with the overall winner announced on Thursday, September 11th.
