Maryville Selected as GLVC Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Favorites

INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville was unanimously voted in the preseason coaches’ poll as the choice to win the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women’s lacrosse championship, the league office announced on Thursday.

The preseason poll is selected by the league’s head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
No. 1 Maryville
  • Received seven first-place votes and 49 total points.
  • Ranked No. 6 in Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Preseason Poll.
  • Claimed second-straight GLVC Regular Season title and first-ever GLVC Championship crown as No. 1 seed.
  • Hosted NCAA Midwest Regional and advanced to Midwest Regional Final.  
  • Coached by Melissa Gyllenborg, who enters her fourth season after a program-best 19-2 overall and 7-0 GLVC record last year.
  • Return First Team IWLCA All-American and GLVC Player of the Year, Helen Bae, along with Second Team selection Haley Ritchie and Third Team honoree Natalie Tomljenovic. 
    • Joined by Third Team All-GLVC recipients Devyn Dimovitz, Kylie Pettus, Avery Bishop, Zara Johnson, Dorothy Fife, and Gianna Guzek.

No. 2 Indianapolis
  • Received one first-place vote and 43 total points.
  • Ranked No. 5 in IWLCA DII Preseason Poll.
  • Advanced to GLVC Championship game as No. 2 seed in 2025.
  • Earned berth to NCAA Tournament for seventh-straight season and advanced to semifinals.
  • Coached by Peyton Romig, who enters her third year after a 15-7 overall and 6-1 GLVC record last season. 
  • Return First Team IWLCA All-American and GLVC Midfielder of the Year, Olivia Bladon, along with Second Team selection Amanda Hurry and Third Team honoree Hollis Rang. 
    • Joined by Second Team All-GLVC recipients Sage Da Silva, Hadlee DeCampos, and Ava Graham and Third Team selections Emily Ghazel, Alexa Versaci, Maleena Michielin, and Jenna Hirvonen.

No. 3 Rockhurst
  • Received 37 total points.
  • Received votes in IWLCA DII Preseason Poll.
  • Advanced to GLVC Championship game as No. 3 seed last year.
  • Earned at-large bid as fifth seed in NCAA Tournament.
  • Coached by reigning GLVC Coach of the Year Molly McCourt, who enters her 11th season after a 13-5 overall and 5-2 GLVC record and earned first NCAA appearance.
  • Return GLVC Freshman of the Year and First Team All-GLVC honoree Kylee Pickens.
    • Joined by Second Team selections Elise Magee and Page Yehling, as well as Third Team recipient Abby Gerstner.
 
 No. 4 Missouri Western
  • Received 31 total points.
  • Earned No. 4 seed in GLVC Championship last season.
  • Coached by Jessica Berg, who enters her fifth season after 9-8 overall and 4-3 GLVC record in 2025.
  • Return Second Team All-GLVC honoree Caetryn Gilreath, along with Honorable Mention selections Jordan Porter, Maleah Sosa, and Ava Garaway.

Rounding out the poll respectively in fifth through eighth was Lewis (18 points), McKendree and Quincy (17), and William Jewell (12).
