UMSL, Maryville Progress to GLVC Women’s Basketball Championship Semifinals

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women's basketball teams advanced to the semifinal round of the 2026 GLVC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament in St. Louis, Missouri, on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis at the Mark Twain Building. Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville await the winners of the last two quarterfinal games tomorrow, March 6th, to determine the matchups heading to the title game on Sunday, March 8th.
 
Fans who will be attending March 6-8 can purchase tickets online at GLVCsports.com/tickets, and those who can't attend can watch on all GLVCSN platforms for $15 per individual game or $40 for the full tournament.

#1 Missouri-St. Louis 66, #8 Upper Iowa 56

  • UMSL jumped out to a 16-point lead in the first half, thanks to an 18-0 run between quarters one and two.
  • UIU brought it within four with 5:50 left in the fourth quarter but UMSL pulled away to win.
  • UMSL dominated from the stripe, making 20 free throws to the Peacocks three.
    • GLVC Player of the Year Mara Rieder led UMSL in scoring with 22 points, also added 10 rebounds, and set a new GLVC Tournament record with nine blocks, seven of them coming in the first half.
    • Anna Costa Riera added 17 points and five steals.
    • GLVC Freshman of the Year Jayden Kuper scored 17 points and added nine rebounds.
  • UIU shot the ball better in half number two, shooting 46.67% (14-30), compared to the first half percentage of 26.32% (10-38) 
    • Kendyl Lodermeier led the Peacocks in scoring with 17.
    • Ava Privet and Ellie Foster both scored in double-figures with 12 points each.
  • This is the Tritons’ sixth overall GLVC quarterfinal win and first since 2021.

  • QU started hot, opening the game with a 16-4 run.
  • MU came back and took a three-point lead after twenty minutes.
  • MU led by as many as 10 points, but QU’s 24 fourth quarter points were enough to force overtime.
  • MU went 7-9 from the charity stripe in overtime, to down the Hawks.
    • Claire Lueken scored a career-high 29 points.
    • Nine DU players scored points, with three others joining Lueken in the double digits.
    • Gracie Gopalan scored 20 points and added nine assists.
  • QU had five players score in double-figures with Karly Peters leading the way with 17.
  • QU’s Champ Danso recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
  • This is MU’s fourth GLVC quarterfinal victory and third in a row.
