UMSL, Maryville to Face Off in GLVC Women’s Basketball Championship Final

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women's Basketball Championship game is set, as Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville will meet Sunday, March 8. The conference title will be decided at the Mark Twain Building on the campus of Missouri-St. Louis, with tip-off set for 1:00 p.m. CT. Tomorrow’s matchup marks the first time these two teams have squared off in the title game.
 
Fans who will be attending the Championship game can purchase tickets online at GLVCsports.com/tickets, and those who can't attend can watch on all GLVCSN platforms for $15 per individual game or $40 for the full tournament.

  • LEWIS opened up the game well, leading 19-10 after the first intermission
  • UMSL found its groove and took the lead after three quarters and held from there
  • UMSL shot 62.1% (18-of-29) from the field, in the second and third quarters to help grab the lead.
    • GLVC Player of the Year Mara Rieder led the Tritons in scoring with 22 points and adding nine rebounds
    • GLVC Freshman of the Year Jayden Kuper (17), Morgan Ramthun (11), and Jaeda Wilson (10) added double-digit scoring.
  • LEWIS’ Ally Cesarini, GLVC Defensive Player of the Year, led the team with 21 points and added two steals which put her on 100 on the year.
    • She is the eighth GLVC women’s basketball player to record 100+ steals in a season, with the last coming in 2019.
  • This is the Tritons’ first title game appearance.

  • MU won the battle in the paint, outscoring DU (34-14).
    • Claire Lueken led the way for MU, scoring 18 points
    • Gracie Gopalan and Annika Pluemer added 13 and 10 points respectively.
  • DU’s Rhi Gibbons registered a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds .
  • This is the Saints’ fifth title game appearance and second in a row.
