13 GLVC Softball Standouts Named to NFCA All-Midwest Region Teams

INDIANAPOLIS – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its All-Region teams Thursday that included 13 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) student-athletes on the First and Second Team for the Midwest.
 
Earning First Team laurels was eight individuals including GLVC Player of the Year, Lauren Harris from McKendree at shortstop, GLVC Co-Pitchers of the Year Caitlin Bunte of Indianapolis, and Sami Huck of McKendree, catcher Morgan Spodarek from Lewis, second base Emily Berry of Rockhurst, and outfielders Cassie Smith (Truman State), Brooklyn Willis (Indianapolis), and Mikayala Chairez (William Jewell).

Featured on the Second Team was Rockhurst pitcher Avery Huffman, Maryville first base Laila Ruiz, Southwest Baptist outfielder Keeley Elsea, Indianapolis utility/pitcher Cheyanne Eads, and Maryville utility/non-pitcher/designated player Addison Koth.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s eight regions with first- and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2026 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
