McKendree, Rockhurst Remain Undefeated After Day Two of GLVC Softball Championship Tournament

EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Four teams remain in the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Softball Championship Tournament after day two from the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois.

No. 3 McKendree and No. 5 Rockhurst secured wins to stay undefeated, while top-seeded Indianapolis and eighth-seeded Drury earned wins in elimination games to advance to Friday.

Three games will be played on Friday, starting with a winners’ bracket game between McKendree and Rockhurst at 10 a.m. CT on the first field. The second game will be an elimination contest featuring UIndy and Drury which will kick off at 11 a.m. on the No. 2 field. The final matchup will include the loser of McKendree/Rockhurst and winner of UIndy/Drury at 1:30 p.m. on the first field.

  • DU and UMSL both scored two runs in the fourth to open the scoring.
  • DU took a commanding 5-2 in the fifth inning thanks to a two-RBI double from Claire Nelson and one-run single off the bat of Kaley Adzick.
  • Landry Cochran added an insurance run for DU in the sixth with an RBI single.
  • DU’s Jordyn Foley allowed one earned run in a complete-game performance.
  • Kylie Sullivan led the UMSL offense with three hits, including a two-run homer.

  • After a first-inning run from UIS, MU broke the game open with a Jenna Kosnoff RBI double and a three-run round tripper from Laila Ruiz in the third frame.
  • UIS cut the lead to one in the sixth after Emma Steward deposited a ball over the center field wall to plate two runs.
  • MU added some cushion in the seventh with two runs to make it a 6-3 game.
  • Kosnoff and Payton Deakin led the Saints with three hits, while Ruiz finished with a game-high four RBIs.
  • Three UIS players – Rosie Bartletti, Calista Stahlhut, and Hailey Niebrugge – tallied two hits.
 
No. 5 ROCKHURST 4, No. 1 INDIANAPOLIS 2

  • RU’s Mya Bristow and UINDY’s Cara Cooper traded solo shots to make the score 1-1 after two-and-a-half innings.
  • RU’s Claire Long delivered the highlight of the game with a three-run home run in the bottom half of the third stanza.
  • Avery Huffman went the distance for the Hawks, giving up three hits and two runs with six punchouts.

  • MCK took control in the third inning, scoring one run on a walk and two on a throwing error.
  • MCK added to the lead in the fifth frame with a Laynee Tapp solo shot and a two-run double from Addie Clark.
  • GLVC Co-Pitcher of the Year Sami Huck was dominant in the circle, posting a three-hit, zero-walk shutout with 10 strikeouts.

  • UINDY’s offense got off to a hot start, scoring three in the first inning off a two-run single from Paige Vickery and an RBI single off the bat of Shelby Cook.
  • Cook kept cooking in the third stanza with another RBI single before Brooklyn Willis broke the game wide open with a grand slam.
  • UINDY’s Cheyenne Eads and GLVC Co-Pitcher of the Year Caitlin Bunte combined for a one-hit shutout.
 
No. 8 DRURY 11, No. 2 MISSOURI S&T 3 (6 inn.)

  • DU put on an offensive display with 11 runs and 13 hits, posting four runs in both the third and sixth innings.
  • Five DU players recorded multiple hits, led by Niemczyk and Cochran with three apiece.
  • Foley punched out 10 S&T batters in a complete-game outing.
  • Molly Fitzgerald went 2-for-2 with one RBI to pace the Miners’ offense.
