Lewis, Drury Cruise to Quarterfinal Wins in GLVC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament

 

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women's basketball teams advanced to the semifinal round of the 2025 GLVC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament in St. Charles, Missouri, on the campus of Lindenwood University at the Robert F. Hyland Arena. Lewis University and Drury University await the winners of the last two quarterfinal games tomorrow, March 7th, to determine the matchups heading to the title game on Sunday, March 9th.
 
Fans who will be attending March 7-9 can purchase tickets online at GLVCsports.com/tickets, and those who can't attend can watch on all GLVCSN platforms for $12 per individual game or $35 for the full tournament.

#1 Lewis 77, #8 Truman State 61

  • TSU kept pace with top-seeded LEWIS in the first half, heading into the locker room down just three points.
  • LEWIS hit the jets in the second half, outscoring TSU 40-27.
  • LEWIS was efficient in all facets, shooting 52.6% (30-of-57) from the field, 35% (7-of-20) from the arc, and 83.3% (10-of-12) from the stripe.
    • GLVC Player of the Year Taylor Gugliuzza led the Flyers in scoring, netting 19 points, along with three rebounds.
    • Three other Flyers reached double-digit points, including Jenna Badali (15), Ally Cesarini (14), and Cierra McNamee (14).
    • Badali dished out a team-high seven assists, while Cesarini paced the squad defensively with four steals.
  • TSU posted 24 points in the paint and shot 40% (6-of-15) from three-point range.
    • Emma Bulman contributed 20 points to lead the team.
    • Jordan Cunningham grabbed a squad-high eight rebounds.
  • This is the Flyers’ 11th-straight and 15th overall GLVC quarterfinal win.

  • DU was in the driver’s seat for nearly the whole game, taking a 4-2 advantage at the 8:31 mark in the first quarter and never relinquishing the lead.
  • DU’s shot 54.3% (38-of-70) from the field and outpaced UIU in multiple categories, including points off turnovers (23 to 6), points in the paint (42 to 26), fast break points (13 to 2), and bench points (37 to 13).
    • Caitlynn Daniels stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, nine assists, six rebounds, two steals, and just one turnover.
    • 12 DU players scored points, with four others joining Daniels in the double digits.
    • Sara Mendel snagged a team-best 10 rebounds.
  • UIU’s Mia Huberty contributed 19 points to lead the way offensively, while Helen Staley added 11 points and seven rebounds.
  • This is DU’s 11th-straight and 15th overall GLVC quarterfinal victory.
