Lincoln Selected as GLVC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Favorite



INDIANAPOLIS – Lincoln University was voted in the preseason coaches’ poll as the choice to win the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men’s outdoor track & field title, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The preseason poll is selected by the league’s head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
No. 1 Lincoln
  • Received seven first-place votes and 162 total points.
  • Won GLVC Indoor Championship in February in first season as a league member.
  • Placed 34th at NCAA Division II Championship last year.
  • Coached by Victor Thomas, who enters his 23rd season.
  • Return All-American Sharim Hamilton, who finished third in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championship last season.

No. 2 Lewis
  • Received four first-place votes and 156 total points.
  • Finished runner-up at GLVC Championship last season.
  • Coached by Dana Schwarting, who enters his 18th season and won GLVC Coach of the Year in 2016.
  • Return a trio of league champions in Adrien Manning (400m), Evan Horgan (5,000m), and Gavin Jenkins (3,000m steeplechase).

No. 3 Missouri S&T
  • Received three first-place votes and 145 total points.
  • Won program’s fourth-straight and eighth overall GLVC Championship and placed 31st at NCAA Division II Championship last season.
  • Coached by Shaun Meinecke, who enters his eighth season and has won GLVC Coach of the Year the last four years.
  • Returners led by All-American Owen Fraser, who finished sixth in the discus throw at the NCAA Championship last season.
    • Joined by four GLVC champions in Paulvin Horton (triple jump), Otto Knittel (decathlon), Rhet Liley (javelin), and Isaac Pollard (pole vault).
 
 No. 4 Indianapolis
  • Received 126 total points.
  • Finished third at GLVC Championship last season.
  • Coached by Brad Robinson, who enters his second year as head coach.
  • Return 2024 GLVC Freshman of the Year and long jump champion Alex Meyer.

Rounding out the poll respectively in fifth through 14th was Southwest Baptist University (112 points), Maryville University (97), Drury University (94), McKendree University and Truman State University (82), University of Illinois Springfield (66), William Jewell College (64), Rockhurst University (32), University of Missouri-St. Louis (29), and Quincy University (27).
