Lewis’ Garden Earns D2CCA Midwest Region Major Honor, 10 Others Named

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) was well represented as 11 student-athletes appeared on the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region Softball Teams, it was announced Tuesday.

Lewis outfielder Delaney Garden garnered the region's Player of the Year award. Garden, the GLVC Player and Pitcher of the Year, led the GLVC and placed ninth Division II with a .466 average and first in DII with 96 hits. She led the GLVC in runs with 62, second the GLVC with a .524 on-base percentage. She added nine doubles, six triples and 23 stolen bases in 58 games.

Indianapolis landed three players on the All-Region Teams, tallying the second-most representatives in the Midwest Region. Outfielder Brooklyn Willis and utility Cara Cooper were named to the First Team for the Greyhounds, while utility/pitcher Cheyanne Eads earned second-team laurels.

McKendree shortstop Lauren Harris joined Garden to make up the final two first-team selections for the league. On the Second Team along with Eads was Illinois Springfield pitcher Rosie Bartletti, McKendree pitcher Sami Huck, Lewis catcher Kristen Graham, Missouri S&T first-base Sydney Anderson, Drury outfielder Sophia Luetticke, and Truman State outfielder Emily Wood.

The GLVC led with 11 selections (four First Team, seven Second Team), while the Great Midwest Athletic Conference was second with nine honorees (five First Team, four Second Team), and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tallied eight selections (five First Team, three Second Team).
