Both Lewis Squads Lead After Day 2 of GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Both Lewis University squads will head into the final day of the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships as the leader in the respective women’s and men’s competitions, which are being held at Lewis Stadium on the campus of Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.

Women’s Heptathlon
  • UIndy’s Ellie Lengerich set a new GLVC record with a combined score and NCAA Provisional mark of 5,052 points.
  • S&T’s Maya Wright scored 4,549 points to claim silver.
  • Wright’s Miner teammate, Lauryn Fenoglio scored 4,349 to place third.
 
Men’s Decathlon
  • Truman State’s Justin Moeller set a new GLVC record in the decathlon with a score 7,000, earning him an NCAA provisional mark, placing him in the top 10 in Division II.
  • Cole Hurt from UIndy scored 6,476 points to finish as runner-up.
  • Andrew Rhodes of SBU claimed the final spot on the podium, securing 6,346 points.
 
Women’s Long Jump
  • Lewis’ Denise Hernandez jumped 6.46m (21-2.5), which was good for gold and a NCAA Provo mark.
  • Hernandez’ Flyer teammate, Katarina Kakavelaki flew for silver, jumping 6.12m (20-1).
  • Joanna Fields of UIndy claimed bronze with a jump of 5.86m (19-2.75).
Women’s Shot Put
  • Cydney banks of William Jewell won the women’s shot put with a throw of 14.71m (48-3.25) securing and NCAA provisional mark.
  • UIndy’s Hannah Dart finished as the runner-up with a throw of 13.71m (44-11.75).
  • Loria Snowden, also of UIndy, came in third, throwing 13.49m (44-3.25 ft).
 
Men’s Discus
  • S&T’s Owen Fraser threw a 60.90m (199-10) to secure the top spot and a new GLVC record.
  • SBU’s Jayce Farrel came in second with a toss of 53.45m (175-5)
  • S&T’s Matthew Hoffman earned bronze, hurling a 49.59m (162-9)
  • Fraser and Farrel earned NCAA Provos.

Women’s Pole Vault
  • Brynlee Keeran from Lewis soared to first, clearing 3.88m (12-8.75) in seven attempts
  • UIndy’s Mackenzie VanBibber also cleared 3.88m (12-8.75), but had more faults, dropping her to second place.
  • Emily Young of SBU secured third place with a clearance of 3.63m (11-10.75).
  • Keeran and VanBibber nabbed NCAA Provisional status.
Men’s Long Jump
  • Alex Meyer defended his GLVC title with a jump of 7.47m (24-6.25), also hitting a NCAA Provisional distance.
  • Maryville’s Kanden Bolton flew for second place, jumping 7.36m (24-1.75), also good for an NCAA provisional mark
  • Wesley Tyndall of Lincoln went for 7.30m (23-11.5), good enough for third.
Men’s Pole Vault
  • Lukas LePage jumped 4.82m (15-9.75) to grab first place.
  • Neil Erasmus of Lewis would clear 4.67m (15-3.75) to second.
  • Ellis Joslin of SBU cleared 4.67m (15-3.75) as well but fell to third due to faults.
Women’s 3000m Steeplechase
  • Mary Edwards of Lewis took home the GLVC title in a time of 10:40.15, earning herself an NCAA provisional mark
  • Marlena Stoklosa made it a Flyers 1-2 with a time of 11:05.56 earning her second place.
  • Truman State’s Kati Schoeneberg placed third with a time of 11:23.88.
Men’s 3000m Steeplechase
  • Gavin Jenkins of Lewis took home gold with a time of 9:15.46
  • Ian Morrison came home with a time of 9:18.35 to make it a Flyers 1-2.
  • Andrew Hartegan of Rockhurst barely took third, with a time of 9:31.27, beating out fourth place Nolan Hansen of SBU by 0.21 seconds.
Preliminaries were also contested in several events, including the 100, 200, 400, and 800 meters, as well as the 100-, 110-, and 400-meter hurdles.

Drury, Lincoln, Missouri-St. Louis, Quincy, and Upper Iowa and have not yet scored points.

  • 1) Lewis – 61, 2) Indianapolis – 43, 3) Missouri S&T – 35, 3) Southwest Baptist – 35, 5) Truman State – 23, 6) Drury – 22, 7) William Jewell – 18, 8) Maryville – 13, 9) Rockhurst – 9.0, 10) Lincoln – 8.0, 11) Illinois Springfield – 6.0. McKendree, Missouri-St. Louis and Quincy are yet to score points.

The top-three finishers in all finals events were named All-Conference honorees.

In Saturday’s field events, which begin at 9 AM Central Time, the men and women will compete in the javelin, high jump, and triple jump. In addition, the women will complete the discus and the men will compete in the shot put.

Running events commence at 12 PM CT with the 4x100-meter relay. The 1,500 and 5,000 meters will also be contested, along with the finals of the aforementioned running events. The GLVC Championships conclude with the 4x400-meter relay, with the women’s race beginning at approximately 3:40 PM.

For spectators planning to attend in person, a single-day admission on Saturday will be $15 for adults and $5 for students (with ID) and youth (6-12th grade). Children 5 and under are admitted free. Tickets must be pre-purchased online at GLVCsports.com/tickets, and no cash will be accepted on site.
