INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis was voted first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men’s indoor track and field preseason coaches’ poll presented by Primo Designs, the conference office announced Thursday.
The preseason poll is selected by the league’s head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
No. 1 Indianapolis
- Received seven first-place votes and 138 total points.
- Finished first in the GLVC Championship last year, claiming their seventh indoor conference title.
- Sent four athletes to NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships.
- Director of Track & Field Brad Robinson enters his second season with the Greyhounds.
- Return senior two-time national champion and All-American Alex Meyer.
No. 2 Lewis
- Received five first-place votes and 137 total points.
- Finished second in the GLVC Championship last year and sent five athletes to nationals.
- Head coach Dana Schwarting enters his 22nd season at the helm.
- Return senior national qualifier and All-American Evan Horgan and national qualifiers junior Niel Erasmus, senior Abraham Christian, and senior Cagini Pilgrim.
T-No. 3 Missouri S&T
- Received the other first-place vote and 116 total points.
- Finished fourth in the GLVC Championship last year and sent six athletes to nationals.
- Head coach Nikki Segrest enters her second season with the program.
- Return fifth-year shot put national champion and All-American Owen Fraser, along with national qualifiers and All-Americans fifth-year Andrew Bacon, senior Henry Born, senior Justin Grellner, and sophomore Jack Janovick.
T-No. 3 Lincoln
- Received 116 total points.
- Finished third in the GLVC Championship last year and sent five athletes to nationals.
- Head coach Victor Thomas enters his 25th season with the Blue Tigers as a 14-time NCAA DII national champion coach.
- Return sophomore national qualifier Brandon Harris, junior Tajai Duffus, and sophomore Keano Charles.
