EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A new Division II record was set while both Indianapolis squads moved into top spot after the fourth day of the 2026 GLVC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Deaconess Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
On the men’s side, Indianapolis pulled away from the Panthers on day four, holding 1304.5 points to Drury’s 1206.5. McKendree holds the third place position with 1062.5 points with Missouri S&T (609) and Quincy (505) vying for the next places. Lewis (450.5), Missouri-St. Louis (405), and Rockhurst (403) make up sixth through eighth, with William Jewell (343), Truman State (210), and Southwest Baptist (152) rounding out ninth through eleventh.
On the women’s side, Indianapolis (1262) currently holds a one point lead over Drury (1261) for the top spot. Missouri-St. Louis stays in third with 641 points while Lewis (550.5) leads McKendree (502.5) for fourth. Rockhurst follows behind the two with 432 points while William Jewell (429), Quincy (312), Truman State (306), and Southwest Baptist (155) round out sixth through tenth. (The current team scores are missing the totals from the Women’s 200 Free Relay).
11 GLVC champions were crowned Friday, with two of those event winners setting a new league standard.
- In the Women’s 1-Meter Diving, Indianapolis’ Megan Sunderman scored 450.90 points, earning her an NCAA provisional mark.
- Sunderman’s Greyhound teammate Abigail Sneed also scored a provisional mark placing second, and Drury’s Madison Rogers placed third
- The Women’s 500 Freestyle saw the first GLVC record rewritten on Day 4. UMSL’s Justice Beard set the new time at 4:48.34, breaking her record from last year by two seconds.
- Beard earned an NCAA A-Cut times with four others earning B-Cuts. McKendree’s Luiza Dias and Drury’s Belen Morales placed second and third.
- Indianapolis’ Swann Plaza won the Men’s 500 Freestyle with time of 4:18.79.
- McKendree’s Miguel Carvalhosa and Indianapolis’ Jan Schmidt were second and third in the race. 12 swimmers earned B-Cuts with the top three earning A-Cuts.
- Indianapolis’ Valentina Masella secured a GLVC crown in the Women’s 100 Backstroke with a time of 54.95. Her Greyhound teammate Carolina Reinke finished second with UMSL’s Ella Lantz claiming third.
- Six swimmers in total earned B-Cuts.
- Drury’s Alvaro Zornoza Quiros won the Men’s 100 Backstroke for the second year in a row, this year with a time of 46.39, 0.04 seconds better than last year. Zornoza’s Panther teammates Ivan Adamchuk was in second with Marwane Sebbata claiming third.
- Six swimmers earned B-Cuts.
- Indianapolis’ Celina Schmidt earned a GLVC Championships win in the Women’s 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:00.49 earning and NCAA A-Cut. Drury’s Gwen Bergum and Indianapolis’ Megan Gregory came second and third.
- Bergum joined Schmidt in earning A-Cuts, while six swimmers earned B-Cuts
- Jeremias Pock from Indianapolis set a new GLVC and NCAA DII record in the Men’s 100 Breaststroke with a time of 51.58. S&T’s Jordan Christensen was runner-up and Drury’s Joao Nogueira finished in third.
- Pock earned an A-Cut with nine other swimmers earning B-Cuts.
- Drury’s Maria Munoz claimed the Women’s 200 Butterfly title with a time of 2:00.52. Her Drury teammate Rianne Rose came second with Indianapolis’ Hanna Burke placing third.
- Munoz and Rose both earned NCAA B-Cuts.
- In the Men’s 200 Butterfly, McKendree’s Vova Gavrysh took top spot with a time of 1:44.61. S&T’s Connor Bichsel placed second with Drury’s Belhassen Ben Miled in third.
- Gavrysh’s time was good enough for an A-Cut with nine swimmers earning B-Cuts.
- In the Women’s 200 Free Relay, the Indianapolis Greyhounds won the event in 1:30.88. Kirabo Namutebi, Addisyn Newman, Jasmin Hoffman, and Caroline Reinke outswam the second and third place squads of Drury and McKendree.
- The top three teams as well as fourth place UMSL posted NCAA provisional marks.
- In our final event of the night, the Drury Panthers Men’s 200 Free Relay team of Yuri Cabral, Lucas Mineur, Marwane Sebbata, and Matteo Vissotto battled from start to finish with runners-up Indianapolis and third place finishers McKendree.
- The top three teams posted NCAA provisional marks.
All first- and second-place finishers are awarded first- and second-team All-GLVC honors.
The fifth and final day of the GLVC Championships begins Saturday with preliminaries of the 100 Free, 200 back, and the 200 Breast, beginning at 10 AM ET. The men’s 1-meter Diving prelims are set to begin at 12:30 PM ET with the 1650 Free timed finals beginning at 2:20 PM ET with finals kicking off at 5:30 PM.
