McKendree’s Schuelke, Johnson Claim NCAA Wrestling Individual Titles

INDIANAPOLIS – The 2025-26 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Wrestling season came to a close last weekend with two student-athletes winning individual titles and nine earning All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
 
The GLVC was well represented at the national event, led by the McKendree duo of Ronan Schuelke (141) and Darion Johnson (184) taking the individual crown in their respective weight classes.

Schuelke took down the reigning national champion and top seed, as well as numbers 9, 5, and 7th ranked wrestlers on his way to a National title while Johnson defeated the 14, 6, 2 and 4th ranked wrestlers.

Joining Schuelke and Johnson with All-American status for McKendree was Logan Kvien (197lbs, 4th), Sam Richardson (165, 4th), and Thaddues Long (133, 8th).

Maryville followed with two All-Americans, as Cole Ritter (174, 8th) Jeremiah Larson (197, 8th) earned the prestige. Cale Gray (285, 7th) represented Indianapolis well on the national stage.
 
McKendree was the Conference's top team finisher, placing third last weekend, with Maryville following in 21st. Indianapolis (24th), Upper Iowa (33rd), and Quincy (34th) each got points on the board, as well.
