AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) released its Baseball Academic All-America® teams on June 23 with three Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) student-athletes making the cut.
Indianapolis' Austin Bode and the Missouri-St. Louis duo of Mitch Bonczkowski and Eli Cartwright represented the Conference on this year's squad. Bode and Bonczkowski garnered First Team honors, while Cartwright secured a spot on the Second Team. Bonczkowski also became the first Triton in program history to earn First Team Academic All-America distinction, while Bode collected his second career Academic All-America accolade after earning Third Team honors in 2025.
Bode earned First Team recognition following another standout season for the Greyhounds. The sport management major was named the D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year and garnered Second Team All-America honors from three organizations after batting .394 with 18 doubles, 19 home runs, and 80 RBIs.
Bonczkowski and Cartwright both played instrumental roles in UMSL's GLVC Championship season. Bonczkowski, an Educational Studies major, earned First Team All-America honors from NCBWA and D2CCA after setting the program single-season records in hits (92), home runs (23), total bases (179), and RBIs (75). Cartwright, the GLVC Pitcher of the Year, garnered Third Team All-America accolades from NCBWA and D2CCA after posting an 8-3 record with a 3.00 ERA and 101 strikeouts.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.
