The 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship will be held for the first time at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana, on April 19-21. This year's event marks the 37th annual GLVC Men's Golf Championship.
The GLVC Championship features a 54-hole stroke play event with the top four teams following stroke play competing in medal/match play to determine the conference champion. A total of 36 holes are played on Sunday, April 19, followed by 18 holes on Monday, April 20. The semifinals and finals of match play will take place on Tuesday, April 21.
For the first time ever, the GLVC Sports Network will provide free live action of the event, consisting of morning tee-times and post-round coverage. A complete schedule will be announced during championship week.
Indianapolis has captured 15 GLVC Championships, followed by Lewis and Northern Kentucky with six each and Bellarmine with five. Southern Indiana, UW-Parkside and former league-member Ashland have all claimed the GLVC Championship once.
The top five finishers at the GLVC Men's Golf Championship are named All-GLVC and the top finishing individual after 54-hole medal play earns medalist honors. The remaining golf awards, including All-Conference positions Nos. 6-10, as well as GLVC Player, Freshman, and Coach of the Year, are named following the spring season.
Last season, No. 1 seed Indianapolis defeated No. 2 Missouri-St. Louis 3-2 in medal/match play competition at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind. The win gave UIndy back-to-back titles for the first time since the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
Both the Greyhounds and Tritons earned 4.5-0.5 medal/match play semifinal victories over No. 4 Lewis and No. 3 McKendree, respectively, to advance to the afternoon finals.
UIndy's Tucker Guisewite shot a 3-under-par 213 (72-69-72) to earn the one-shot victory over a pair of McKendree standouts in Garrett Sneed (73-69-72--214) and Nathan Nottrott (72-71-71--214), who each finished the 54-hole stroke play competition at 2-under. Missouri-St. Louis' Anthony Cope (71-70-74--215) and Lewis' Robert Dofflemyer (74-70-71--215) finished one stroke back tied for fourth at 1-under.
