2016 GLVC Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships

The 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Missouri S&T Golf Course in Rolla, Missouri.

For the third straight season, the GLVC Cross Country Championships will be streamed tape-delayed on the GLVC Sports Network.  The date and time the event will air is still to be determined.

The 2016 Cross Country Championships will open with the 38th annual men's 8,000-meter race at 10:30 a.m. CT, followed by the 33rd annual women's 6,000-meter run at 11:30 a.m.

The top-placing men's and women's teams will be named the 2016 GLVC Champion, respectively. In addition, the top 15 individual men finishers and the top 15 individual women finishers will be named All-GLVC and the medalist of each race will be named the GLVC Runners of the Year. The top-finishing freshman on both sides will garner GLVC Freshman of the Year honors.

Southern Indiana is the defending champion on the men's side, having collected its 11th-straight Conference title and league-best 23rd overall crown at the 2015 event, which was hosted by UW-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  The winning streak is the longest for any team in any sport in Conference history, but was in jeopardy of being snapped.  USI scored 41 points in the victory, just two points ahead of host UW-Parkside (43) to tie for the closest-ever men’s race in league history.  In 2004, Lewis University defeated USI 55-57 in Alexandria, Kentucky.  USI registered its highest winning point total since 2008 when they also netted 41 points for the victory.

On the women’s side, Southern Indiana scored 53 points and topped runner-up Lewis (68) and third-place finisher UW-Parkside (83) for its 10th overall Conference crown and seventh in the last eight years.  The 10 GLVC titles are the most won by a program in league history.
