2017 GLVC Swimming & Diving Championship

The Great Lakes Valley Conference is set to host the fourth annual GLVC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, Feb. 8-11, 2017, at the Crawfordsville Aquatics Center on the campus of Crawfordsville High School in Crawfordsville, Ind., located an hour west of Indianapolis.

Ten men's teams and 10 women's squads representing 11 member institutions will vie for the 2017 GLVC Championship.  Nine GLVC schools currently sponsor both men's and women's swimming and diving, including Bellarmine, Drury, Indianapolis, Lewis, Maryville, McKendree, Missouri-St. Louis, Truman State, and William Jewell.  Missouri S&T currently fields a men's squad and Quincy is in its second year of existence on the women's side.

This year's GLVC Championship meet will again be streamed live and free of charge on the GLVC Sports Network. 

Drury's men's squad won its third GLVC Championship last year, while the Truman State women won its first league title in 2016.

Last year on the men's side, Drury scored 792.5 points in the win, followed by Missouri S&T (761.5), Indianapolis (683), Lewis (401), Truman State (392), William Jewell (356), Missouri-St. Louis (260), Bellarmine (144) and Maryville (34).

Truman's women's team scored 946.5 points in the win, while Drury netted a runner-up finish with 910 points. Indianapolis (603) was third, followed by William Jewell (419), Lewis (348), Bellarmine (215), Maryville (154), Quincy (145.5) and Missouri-St. Louis (108).  

Drury placed fourth on the women's side and sixth on the men's side at the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships, as Panthers' Wen Xu took home the National Championship in the 50 freestyle (22.38). The Truman State women placed 12th.

Finishing behind Truman as the only other women's team to score was William Jewell with 19 points in 29th palce. For the men, Missouri S&T came in 13th (119), UIndy was right behind the Miners in 15th (96) and Truman finished in 27th place with 25 points.
