UIndy Wins 11th GLVC All-Sports Trophy in a Row

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis has earned its 11th-straight Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) All-Sports Trophy, the league office announced on Monday. The Greyhounds totaled 190 points during the 2022-23 academic year, winning by 37 points over second-place Lewis University.

The trophy is UIndy’s 14th in program history, with wins in the 1978-79, 1994-95, and 2002-03 seasons, as well as the past 11, dating back to 2011-12. The GLVC did not award the All-Sports Trophy in 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that suspended spring sports competition that year.

The GLVC All-Sports Trophy is presented to the institution that demonstrates the best all-around performance in the league’s 24 sponsored sports. Points are allocated based on overall finish in the respective sport’s Conference tournament and league standings.

UIndy captured a league-high six GLVC titles this season to earn top points in football, women’s swimming and diving, wrestling, both men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s lacrosse. In addition, the UIndy women finished runner-up in golf, softball, as well as indoor and outdoor track and field, while the Greyhound men earned a second-place finish in swimming and diving and were third in points for men’s soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and track and field.

Lewis secured second place by 14.25 points over third-place Drury, tallying 153 total points during the 2022-23 season. This marks the Flyers 12th consecutive top-five finish and third-straight runner-up honor. Lewis earned five GLVC Championships this season, hoisting the trophy in women’s cross country, volleyball, both women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and softball.

Drury University earned third-place distinction this season, adding its 13th straight top-five finish in the standings. The Panthers picked up 138.75 points, highlighted by league titles in men’s swimming and diving and women’s basketball.

Maryville University was just 8.25 points behind Drury, finishing fourth in this season’s All-Sports Trophy standings. The Saints totaled 130.5 points this year, winning both the men’s and women’s soccer Conference titles. This is Maryville’s highest finish in the standings since joining the league in 2008, with its previous best finish of sixth place in 2018-19. McKendree University was close behind in fifth place for the third year in a row, tallying 129.25 points on the heels of a pair of GLVC Championships in women’s bowling and men’s golf.
