UIndy Captures GLVC All-Sports Trophy for 12th-Straight Year

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis has earned its 12th consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) All-Sports Trophy, the league office announced on Monday. The Greyhounds totaled 199.5 points during the 2023-24 academic year, winning by 18.5 points over second-place Lewis University.

The trophy is UIndy’s 15th in program history, with wins in the 1978-79, 1994-95, and 2002-03 seasons, as well as the past 12, dating back to 2011-12. The GLVC did not award the All-Sports Trophy in 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that suspended spring sports competition that year.

The GLVC All-Sports Trophy is presented to the institution that demonstrates the best all-around performance in the league’s 24 sponsored sports. Points are allocated based on overall finish in the respective sport’s Conference tournament and league standings.

UIndy captured a league-high eight GLVC titles this season to earn top points in men’s soccer, football, men’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s golf, as well as men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s lacrosse. In addition, the UIndy women finished runner-up in swimming and softball.

Lewis secured second place by 25 points over third-place Drury University, tallying 181 total points during the year. This marks the Flyers 13th consecutive top-five finish and fourth-straight runner-up honor but within the closest margin. Lewis earned eight GLVC Championships this season, hoisting the trophy in men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, men's indoor track and field, and men’s lacrosse.

Drury earned third-place distinction this season, adding its 14th-straight top-five finish in the standings. The Panthers picked up 156 points, highlighted by a league title in women’s swimming and diving, as well as runner-up efforts in women’s cross country and women’s basketball.

McKendree University was just 9.5 points behind Drury, finishing fourth in this season’s All-Sports Trophy standings. The Bearcats totaled 146.5 points this year, winning the women’s soccer and wrestling Conference titles. This is McKendree’s highest finish in the standings since joining the league in 2011, with its previous best finish of fifth place in each of the last three years. Maryville University was close behind in fifth place, tallying 144 points on the heels of GLVC Championships in wrestling, women’s bowling, and baseball.
