Five GLVC Women's Lacrosse Players Garner IWLCA All-America Nods

NORTHBOROUGH, Ma. – Five Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women's lacrosse student-athletes earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America honors, it was announced Thursday.

Maryville attacker Sydney Tiemann garnered a first-team selection, and Indianapolis defender Amy Vegh landed on the Second Team. Saints defender Ronnie Skorcz and a pair of Greyhounds – attackers Joey Fowler and Anna Ziemba – rounded out Conference representation with third-team nods.

Tiemann broke the NCAA Division II single-season scoring record this year, and her 115 goals scored leads all three levels of NCAA women's lacrosse. She leads the nation in goals per game at 5.75 and in total points at 131 (115 goals and 16 assists). Tiemann scored at least three goals in 18 of 20 games. She tallied 11 goals at Missouri Western, tied for the most in the nation this year. The reigning Great Lakes Valley Conference Attack Player of the Year, Tiemann was recently named to the IWLCA All-Midwest first team and was a first-team All-American as selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine.

Off the heels of being named as a USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American, Vegh was a key contributor on defense for UIndy this season. She finished tied for the team lead with 25 caused turnovers, which is the fifth-highest mark in a single season in program history. Along with this, she ended second on the team with 38 ground balls which sits in a tie for third all-time in a single season in program history.

Skorcz garnered second-team All-American honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine and previously picked up GLVC Defender of the Year and IWLCA first-team All-Midwest recognition. She amassed 32 caused turnovers, 34 ground balls and snared 54 draw controls. Skorcz and the Saints defense only surrendered 9.40 goals per game. Her efforts have directed Maryville to the most ground balls in the GLVC.

Ziemba is dubbed an All-American after also notching USA Lacrosse Magazine Third Team honors earlier this season. Despite missing a game, she still managed to lead UIndy in points scored at 82, which is the sixth-best mark in a single season in program history.

Fowler earns the first All-America honor of her career after leading the Greyhounds this season with 63 goals scored, which is the fourth-best mark in a single season in program history. She also finished third on the team in points scored (76) and ground balls (26).
