INDIANAPOLIS – The bracket is set for this week’s 2023 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Baseball Championship Tournament, which will make its debut at Mtn. Dew Park in Marion, Illinois, May 11-14.
Regular Season Champion Quincy University earned the No. 1 overall seed, while University of Illinois Springfield secured the second seed, Maryville University was tabbed as the 3-seed, Lewis University claimed the 4-seed, University of Indianapolis was tabbed fifth, Drury University enters the postseason as the 6-seed, William Jewell College will be seeded No. 7, and Missouri S&T rounds out the field as the eighth seed.
The top-eight teams based on Conference winning percentage received a berth in the double-elimination tournament.
Game 1: #4 Lewis vs. #5 Indianapolis | Thursday, May 11, 9 AM CT
- Lewis went 29-21 overall and 20-12 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- Indianapolis went 32-17 overall and 17-15 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- The Flyers and Greyhounds met in the season finale series, which UIndy took 3-1 at home.
- Lewis is making its 26th appearance in the GLVC postseason.
- UIndy is making its league-best 27th appearance in the GLVC postseason and also owns the most titles with six but will be looking for its first since 2016.
- UIndy won a three-way, head-to-head tiebreaker for the fifth seed against Drury and Jewell, going 5-3 overall against the two teams, while Drury was 4-4 and Jewell was 3-5.
Game 2: #3 Maryville vs. #6 Drury | Thursday, May 11, 12:30 PM CT
- Maryville went 32-16 overall and 21-11 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- Drury went 27-23 overall and 17-15 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- The Saints swept the Panthers on March 4-5 in a non-conference series at home.
- Maryville is making its fifth appearance in the GLVC postseason.
- Drury is making its 12th appearance in the GLVC postseason.
- Drury lost against UIndy but won against Jewell in a three-way, head-to-head tiebreaker for the sixth seed, as UIndy went 5-3 overall against the two teams, Drury was 4-4, and Jewell was 3-5.
Game 3: #2 Illinois Springfield vs. #7 William Jewell | Thursday, May 11, 4:00 PM CT
- Illinois Springfield went 25-11 overall and 25-7 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- William Jewell went 29-21 overall and 17-15 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- This will be the first meeting between the Prairie Stars and Cardinals this year.
- NCBWA 21st-ranked UIS is making its eighth appearance in the GLVC postseason and will be looking to defend its first-ever title from last season.
- Jewell is making its fifth appearance in the GLVC postseason.
- Jewell lost a three-way, head-to-head tiebreaker for the fifth and sixth seeds against UIndy and Drury, respectively, as UIndy was 5-3, Drury went 4-4, and Jewell was 3-5 overall against each other.
Game 4: #1 Quincy vs. #8 Missouri S&T | Thursday, May 11, 7:30 PM CT
- Quincy went 40-9 overall and 27-5 in GLVC action during the regular season, earning the GLVC Regular Season title.
- Missouri S&T went 24-22 overall and 15-17 in GLVC action during the regular season.
- The NCBWA seventh-ranked Hawks won three of four against the Miners in the GLVC-opening series at home March 17-19.
- Quincy is making its 18th appearance in the GLVC postseason.
- S&T is making its 10th appearance in the GLVC postseason.
Each day of the four-day event, ticket prices will be $12 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 6-17) and students (with ID), while children 5 and under are free.
