Maryville's Mulinya Named United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week



KANSAS CITY – Maryville University midfielder Kelvin Mulinya was chosen for his second career United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week award on Wednesday. The senior from Nairobi, Kenya, scored a trio of goals in Maryville's perfect 3-0 week.
 
Mulinya opened the scoring in the 12th minute of a 3-1 win over Fort Hays State University last Friday. He wrapped up his weekend with a pair of goals against No. 6 Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday afternoon.
 
He was selected to his first Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week award on Monday, and earns his second career United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week honor. His last was on Nov. 9, 2022, after tallying two goals in a GLVC Semifinal win over the University of Illinois Springfield.
 
Men's soccer opens GLVC play on Friday, Sept. 15, with a matchup against Illinois Springfield. The opening kickoff at Kiwanis Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m.
