UMSL, Lewis Selected GLVC Cross Country Weekly Honorees



INDIANAPOLIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis senior Benjamin VandenBrink and Lewis University junior Hannah Smrcka have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Runners of the Week in men’s and women’s cross country, respectively, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Team Results: 5th/14 Teams (111 Points) at Bradley Intercollegiate (9/15)
  • Finished fourth in 136-competitor 8K race in personal best 24:15.60
  • Paced UMSL to fifth-place finish
  • Earns first career Runner of the Week Award
  • Last Tritons’ Runner of the Week: Toby Middleton (9/28/22) 

WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Hannah Smrcka, #23 Lewis

Major: English
Team Results: 3rd/11 Teams (65 Points) at National Catholic Invitational (9/15)
  • Placed 10th overall in 159-competitior 5K with time of 17:50.20, finishing first ahead of all non-D-I runners
  • Paced team to third place overall behind only Notre Dame and Loyola Chicago
  • Earns first career Runner of the Week Award
