UIndy Selected to Take Home GLVC Baseball Crown



INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis was voted in the preseason coaches’ poll as the choice to win the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) baseball championship, the league office announced on Friday.

The preseason poll is determined by the league’s head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
No. 1 Indianapolis
  • Received 12 first-place votes and 194 total points.
  • Ranked sixth in National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Preseason Poll.
    • Top-ranked team in Midwest Region Poll.
  • Won GLVC Regular Season title and earned top seed at 2024 GLVC Championship, going 1-2.
  • Secured 15th NCAA Tournament appearance last season.
    • Won Midwest Region for second consecutive season to clinch back-to-back World Series berths.
  • Coached by reigning GLVC Coach of the Year Al Ready, who enters his seventh season after a 41-21 overall and 29-7 GLVC record in 2024.
  • Return three All-GLVC selections from last season: Diego Cardenas (First Team), Cole Hampton (Second Team), and Easton Good (Honorable Mention).

No. 2 Maryville
  • Received three first-place votes and 174 total points.
  • Ranked 24th in NCBWA DII Preseason Poll.
    • Third-ranked team in Midwest Region Poll.
  • Earned No. 2 seed at 2024 GLVC Championship, winning its first-ever league title.
  • Advanced to NCAA Tournament for second-straight year, going 2-2.
  • Coached by Pat Evers, who enters his seventh year after a 40-19 overall and 26-10 GLVC record in 2024.
  • Return 27 players from last year’s squad.

No. 3 Quincy
  • Received 164 total points.
  • Ranked 10th in NCBWA Midwest Region Preseason Poll.
  • Earned No. 4 seed at 2024 GLVC Championship, advancing to title game.
  • Coached by Matt Schissel, who enters his fourth season after a 28-26 overall and 22-14 GLVC record in 2024.
  • Return GLVC Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-GLVC honoree David Broughton, along with Honorable Mention selection Kobe Essien.
 
 No. 4 Drury
  • Received 156 total points.
  • Ranked ninth in NCBWA Midwest Region Preseason Poll.
  • Earned No. 3 seed at 2024 GLVC Championship, going 1-2.
  • Coached by Scott Nasby, who enters his 13th season after 27-25 overall and 23-13 GLVC record in 2024.
  • Return First Team All-GLVC honoree Cody Bahl and Honorable Mention selection Connor Bain.

Rounding out the poll respectively in fifth through 15th was University of Missouri-St. Louis (141 points), University of Illinois Springfield (124), Lewis University (123), Rockhurst University (107), William Jewell College (99), Missouri S&T (89), McKendree University (67), Truman State University (45), Southwest Baptist University (41), Upper Iowa University (37), and Lincoln University (14).
