ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University earned its ninth-straight and record 15th overall league crown at the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Lewis Stadium on the campus of Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois to conclude the three-day meet.
With the win, Lewis captured back-to-back-to-back "triple crowns" of GLVC Championships by sweeping cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field. The Flyers became the first team to ever do it in league history in 2022-23 and are now the first to do it three times.
The Flyers earned 226 points to best runner-up Lincoln University (129) by 97 points.
Southwest Baptist University (107) finished third, while University of Indianapolis (100) and Missouri S&T (57) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Sixth place went to Maryville University (51), and Truman State University (50) finished seventh ahead of William Jewell College (38) in eighth. Spots nine and 10 respectively went to McKendree University (26) and University of Illinois Springfield (16). Upper Iowa University and Rockhurst University (7) tied for 11th with Drury University (5) rounding out the point scoring teams. University of Missouri-St. Louis and Quincy University did not score any points.

The top-three finishers in all events were named All-Conference honorees.
At the conclusion of the Championship, SBU’s Farrington was name Track Athlete of the Year, Lewis’s Denise Hernandez repeated as Field Athlete of the Year, while Lewis’ Katerina Kakvelaki was voted as Freshmen of the Year. The league coaches also recognized Dana Schwarting as GLVC Coach of the Year.
Additionally, SBU was honored as the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award team winner, while 15 student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also named as their sport’s honoree for the award. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school’s two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced later this month.
