Lewis Collects Fifth Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Crown

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University captured its fifth overall league title at the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Lewis Stadium on the campus of Lewis University in Romeoville Illinois, to conclude the three-day meet.

The Flyers totaled 150 points to best runner-up Lincoln University (131) by 19 points.

Missouri S&T (119) finished third, while University of Indianapolis (105) and Southwest Baptist University (71) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Sixth place went to Maryville University (46), while the respective seventh- and eighth-place teams were Drury University (43) and Truman State University (37). William Jewell College (35) was ninth and Rockhurst University (32) finished in 10th. McKendree University and Quincy University (24) placed 11th, University of Illinois Springfield (10) was 13th, and University of Missouri-St. Louis (8) rounded out the field in 14th.

The top-three finishers in all events were named All-Conference honorees.

At the conclusion of the Championship, Tajai Duffus earned Track Athlete and Freshman of the Year and Owen Fraser was chosen as Field Athlete of the Year. The league coaches also recognized Dana Schwarting as Coach of the Year.

Additionally, SBU was honored as the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winner, while 14 student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also named as their sport’s honoree for the award. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school’s two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced later this month.
