LIBERTY, Mo. – William Jewell College is pleased to announce the elevation of Brian Cooper from Assistant to Head Coach of the Cardinal Track & Field and Cross Country programs. He begins his duties effective immediately.
"Brian has been with our program and has important institutional knowledge and student-athlete relationships. Additionally, he has recruited and mentored the performance of some of our more accomplished athletes and has shared a vision for how to stabilize and grow the program which gives me the confidence he is ready for this opportunity," said Vice President for Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris McCabe.
Cooper is going into his fourth season with the Jewell program after mentoring four student-athletes to 19 school records over the previous three seasons, including four current standing marks. Cooper also worked directly with two-time GLVC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Cydney Banks to All-America honors in 2023 and 2025.
Cooper was also named the William Jewell Assistant Coach of the Year at the 2024-25 JESPY's in May, an award voted on by the student body.
