UMSL Collects First GLVC Women’s Golf Crown

PERU, Ind. – Second-seeded Missouri-St. Louis earned its first Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women's Golf Championship over top-seeded Indianapolis, 3-2, on Sunday at Rock Hollow Golf Club.
 
With the victory, Missouri-St. Louis earned the conference's automatic qualifying berth into the NCAA East Regional.

The Tritons jumped out of the gate early, as sophomore Emely Wahl shot a 77 to beat Caroline Whallon (78) while Hillary Currier defeated Macey Brown by three strokes 73-76 to claim a 2-0 lead for UMSL.

Indianapolis won the next two matchups with GLVC Freshman of the Year Paige Giovenco defeating Hope Williams 70-78, and Individual Medalist Ava Ray (71) taking down GLVC Player of the Year Wilam Zanderau (74).
 
Mayan Covarrubias leveled the scoring against Abby Stone with a birdie on hole 13, three straight pars on 14,15, and 16 by the pair made it even going into hole 17. Covarrubias took the lead with a par whole Stone bogeyed. On hole 18 both golfers had chances at par after both chipping on. Stone was ruled further by the officials and she sunk her par putt. Covarrubias about eight feet out from the hole sunk her putt to keep the scoring in her favor and claiming the Tritons the 2026 GLVC Women’s Golf Championship.
 
The Tritons started the day with a semifinals victory over third-seeded Maryville, 3-2, to advance to the finals, while UIndy secured a 4-1 win over No. 4 Lewis to solidify the championship matchup.
