BOLIVAR, Mo. – Lewis women’s team and Southwest Baptist men’s squad top the leaderboards after the second day of the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are being held at Plaster Stadium on the campus of Southwest Baptist. Four GLVC records fell on Friday, as the standard for both genders in the long jump and 3,000m steeplechase were reset.
Women’s Heptathlon
- Southwest Baptist sophomore Kelsey Rhoades secured gold after accumulating 4,741 points, reaching NCAA Provisional status.
- Missouri S&T freshman Maddie Falls landed in second (4,519), with Indianapolis sophomore Jorjia Ferguson following closely behind in third (4,497).
Men’s Decathlon
- Truman senior Hayden Long won the event by a wide margin, notching 6,871 points to finish 460 points in front of second-place finisher Andrew Rhoades of SBU (6,411).
- Both athletes hit the NCAA Provisional mark.
- UIndy senior Cole Hurt garnered the third spot on the leaderboard (6,264).
Women’s Shot Put
- Gold went to Indianapolis sophomore Vivian Osagie, recording a toss of 15.62m.
- Sydney Morris of Missouri S&T earned silver (14.38m), while Lewis sophomore Olivia Cox rounded out the podium (13.67m).
Men’s Shot Put
- A 16.47m throw netted Southwest Baptist senior Tyler Hart the gold medal.
- Two freshmen – UIndy’s Will Kemper (16.30m) and McKendree’s Cleon Sewell (16.16m) – occupied second and third place, respectively.
Women’s Long Jump
- Lewis senior Denise Hernandez repeated as the event’s champion, leaping 6.30m to capture first place and break a 21-year-old GLVC record.
- Silver was grabbed by Lincoln freshman Kimeisha Francis while also hitting the exact mark for NCAA Provisional status (5.88m) for the first time this season.
- Drury freshman Anna Talbot snuck onto the podium by just 0.01m with a jump of 5.79m.
Men’s Long Jump
- UIndy junior Alex Meyer (7.89m) shattered the longest-standing GLVC Outdoor Track & Field record, surpassing Donnell Baylock’s mark of 7.83m in 1997.
- Second and third place respectively went to Lincoln senior Dimetri Browne (7.34m) and SBU sophomore Angel Dickerson (7.24m).
Women’s Pole Vault
- UIndy senior Mackenzie VanBibber cleared 4.00m to win the event handily.
- Her teammate – freshman Ann Elise Sloan (3.87m) – took silver and hit the NCAA Provo mark for the first time, while Lewis freshman Malaina Telschow (3.67m) finished third.
Men’s Pole Vault
- With a 4.77m clearance, Missouri S&T sophomore Noah Misukonis earned first-place recognition.
- Three athletes tied for second – S&T’s Wilson Klein and SBU’s Afton Hopkins and Ellis Joslin – with a mark of 4.62m.
Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase
- Mary Edwards from Lewis (10:19.14) destroyed the GLVC record, crossing the line 14.55 seconds faster than Kristen Bonsor’s mark in 2016.
- This is the third-straight year she has won the event and improved upon last season’s time by 21 seconds.
- Megan Garrett (10:33.55) and Katie Melzer (11:03.07) joined their teammate on the podium in second and third place, respectively.
Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase
- UIndy junior Felix Rivet (8:51.83) set a new GLVC mark by about three seconds to capture the gold medal.
- Lewis senior Brendon Shea (8:57.14) and SBU junior Gavin Duchscherer (8:58.23) rounded out the podium.

The top-three finishers in all finals events were named All-Conference honorees.
Preliminaries were also contested in several events, including the 100, 200, 400, and 800 meters, as well as the 100-, 110-, and 400-meter hurdles.
In Saturday’s field events, which begin at 9 AM CT, the men and women will compete in the javelin, discus, high jump, and triple jump.
Running events commence at 11 AM CT with the 4x100-meter relay. The 1,500 and 5,000 meters will also be contested, along with the finals of the aforementioned running events. The GLVC Championships conclude with the 4x400-meter relay, with the women’s race beginning at approximately 2:40 PM.
