The 2017 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship will be held at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Ill. on April 28-30. This year's event marks the 19th annual GLVC Women's Golf Championship, and the eighth year in a row that the tournament will be held in Waterloo.
For the third straight year, the event will be a 54-hole format on the par-72, 5,882-yard course. A total of 18 holes are played on each day of competition.
Indianapolis (10), Drury (2), Lewis (1), and Southern Indiana (1), along with former GLVC members Northern Kentucky (3) and SIU Edwardsville (1), have each won the GLVC Women's Golf Championship.
The top-five finishers at the GLVC Women's Golf Championship are named All-GLVC and the top finishing individual earned medalist honors. The remaining golf awards are determined by season results and a coaches vote.
Last season, UIndy carded a league-record 294 to post a 54-hole winning score of 899 (302-303-294) to earn its fifth-straight and 10th overall title, which are also new league standards. In addition to the new GLVC-record low round, which was set by UIndy with a final round 296 to clinch the 2012 GLVC title, the Greyhounds also improved 13 strokes on their winning score of 912 from last year. The 2015 event marked the first time the league expanded its postseason event to 54 holes.
After a pair of USI Screaming Eagles captured medalist honors in 2014 and 2015, a pair of Greyhounds shared the Conference crown in 2016 for the first time ever. Freshman Katharina Keilich (73-74-74—221) and sophomore Kylie Raines (74-75-72—221) became the first teammates in GLVC history to tie for medalist honors and, when given the choice, opted to forgo the medalist playoff and share the league title.
It was the fourth occasion that a Greyhound had captured the GLVC title. Amy Wenning earned the 2001 crown, Kristi Piepenbrink was the 2009 winner, and Regan Pittard finished first in 2013.
Admission to the 2017 GLVC Women's Golf Championship is free to the public.
